Laura

Laura is one of Sid’s nine-year-old twin sisters, a young dwarf moved from a Twilight Rain orphanage to Leaf Village after her brother’s death and resurrection. Under Grandma Annie’s care, she becomes an apprentice alchemist and a member of Heaven’s Gate rather than the dependent Sid once committed murder to support. (Chapters 196, 199, 202, 433)

Biography

Awakening and Leaf Village

Laura initially exists at the center of Sid’s desperate motive: he accepts an assassination mission because he wants to give her and Livia a safe, comfortable life. When Lux kills and revives him, Sid returns to the orphanage, conceals what happened, and takes the anxious twins to Leaf Village. Laura trusts his promise, asks whether they need to pack, and accepts an unknown home because remaining with her siblings matters more than possessions. (Chapters 196, 198, 199)

Life with Grandma Annie gives that trust a constructive consequence. Laura receives regular food, affection, and an alchemical apprenticeship, while her baby Slime Cora grows beside her. Heaven’s Gate later strengthens both girl and companion, but Sid warns her that power does not replace instruction or caution. Laura’s development therefore runs from waiting helplessly for Sid to return toward learning a craft through which she can support a wider community. (Chapters 202, 226, 433, 638)

Open Heaven’s Gate

After the final war, Laura rejoices when the resurrected Sid announces his intention to marry Scarlet, looking forward to becoming an aunt and spoiling their future child. She and Livia then serve as flower girls at the joint wedding. These family celebrations resolve the fear that defined her childhood: Sid has returned from death again, the twins retain their home and community, and Laura can participate in building the family she once worried would disappear. (Chapters 1229, 1234)

Appearance and personality

Laura is a little dwarf girl with long light-brown hair and green eyes. She and Livia are identical except for their hairpins, and the twins received those pins from Sid on their ninth birthday. Laura is affectionate, openly anxious about separation, and somewhat more verbally demonstrative than her sister, eagerly spinning Cora after the Slime learns to speak. Security and family remain her strongest emotional needs. (Chapters 199, 433)

Abilities and skills

Laura is an apprentice alchemist trained by Grandma Annie. Her work develops through recipes, gathered herbs, practice, and the manufacture of weapons, armor, potions, pills, and consumables alongside the guild’s other crafters; she is explicitly not treated as a front-line fighter. Her Heaven’s Gate status improves her capabilities, but the corpus does not name a personal combat skill or formal alchemical rank. (Chapters 433, 549, 613, 638)

Her Beast Companion Cora is a Baby Slime who reaches Rank 4 and learns to speak after the guild-wide enhancement. Cora gives Laura a stronger companion, not immunity from danger: Sid still insists that both master and beast heed Annie’s instruction, and stronger summons guard them while traveling through monster territory. (Chapters 433, 549)

  • Sid: Laura’s devoted older brother, whose desire to provide for the twins drives his darkest choices and whose survival anchors her sense of safety. (Chapters 196, 199, 1229)

  • Grandma Annie: Her guardian and alchemy teacher in Leaf Village. (Chapters 202, 226)
