Lady Faustina
Lady Faustina is a senior Dragon Born minister, the Dragon King’s right-hand woman, and Cethus’s grandmother. Her severity masks a protective family loyalty that extends to Valerie, and her later marriage to Piccoro helps symbolize the peace between the divided Dragon Kingdoms.
Biography
Heaven’s Gate and the continental wars
Faustina watches Cethus leave Karshvar Draconis with Lux and hopes exposure to the lower realm will temper his arrogance. When his duel with Gerhart later turns lethal, she intervenes despite knowing Gerhart would otherwise have won, compensates him with an Argonaut-ranked core, heals both combatants, and asks Lux to care for her grandson. Her choice balances partiality with fairness: family comes first, but she acknowledges the interrupted result and accepts Cethus’s decision to follow Lux. (Chapters 543, 637)
Her guardianship later expands beyond Cethus. Faustina quietly protects Valerie’s disguise, resumes the authority of her former etiquette teacher, and confronts the Divine Army when its Saints threaten Lux on Crystal Palace territory. Although her duty to the Dragon King shapes her actions, she repeatedly interprets that duty through the safety and maturation of younger Dragons rather than obedience alone. (Chapters 784, 819, 828, 987, 1017)
Open Heaven’s Gate
After the Abyssal war, Faustina and Piccoro decide to marry when their two Dragon Kingdoms end their longstanding hostilities. They do not merge the states; instead, the settlement preserves two governments intended to keep each other in check. Their union therefore marks personal reconciliation without erasing political difference, and places Faustina’s long career of guardianship and diplomacy inside the new cooperative order Lux helped create. (Chapter 1229)
Appearance and personality
Faustina is repeatedly described as an old Dragon Born and presents herself with the composed authority of a veteran minister. She can hover high above the ground, conceal her surveillance, and move from gentleness to intimidation without losing control. Valerie remembers her as an exacting etiquette teacher who flicked her forehead for mistakes, while Lux sees the same unmistakable affection for Cethus that Vera shows her own family. Strict, teasing, pragmatic, and fiercely protective are her strongest recurring traits. (Chapters 543, 637, 784)
Dragon Born abilities and statecraft
Sealed Saint power
Faustina ordinarily presents as a High-Ranker but can unseal herself to Saint rank. She flies, releases broad shock waves capable of pushing back multiple Saints, and can establish a private barrier strong or subtle enough to prevent the Dragon King from overhearing her conversation with Lux. Numbers remain a limitation: her attacks force the Divine Army to defend, but she and Piccoro cannot simply overpower more than twenty coordinated Saints by themselves. (Chapters 637, 819)
Guardianship, healing, and diagnosis
Faustina administers high-quality potions to stabilize Cethus and Gerhart, recognizes pregnancy by checking Valerie’s pulse, and serves as a diplomatic escort whose presence grants royal authority to a mission. The corpus does not identify pulse diagnosis as a named magical skill, so it is safest treated as demonstrated medical knowledge rather than a supernatural power. Her political effectiveness likewise depends on office, experience, and judgment, not merely her Saint strength. (Chapters 637, 1086, 1150)
