Bedivere
Bedivere is a murdered Human knight whose attachment to his wife Lilia and daughter Heidi anchors his soul inside the Crimson Wanderer Living Armor. After Lux reunites him with his family, Bedivere freely pledges his sword and becomes the first member of the Necromancer’s Covenant. A risky transformation gives him a partly mortal body, a dragon mount, and the profession he had wanted in life.
Biography
The Lionheart Tournament and the Hidden Domain
Bedivere survives death as a Rank 4 Living Armor because he cannot abandon Lilia and Heidi. The nobles responsible for his murder continue sending mercenaries after them, and he repeatedly kills those attackers while his memories slowly decay. Recognizing that he may soon forget the family he protects, he offers Lux permanent service in exchange for their safety. Lux uses a transformation mask to let him appear as the blond, blue-eyed man Lilia remembers, arranges their reunion, and moves the family to Leaf Village. Bedivere’s motive is therefore established before his oath: he accepts subordination not from magical compulsion but because Lux gives his loved ones a future he can no longer secure alone. (Chapters 349–354, 361, 365)
His voluntary pledge unlocks Lux’s Necromancer’s Covenant. Bedivere chooses a fifty-percent attempt at becoming a Dragon Knight rather than take a safer profession, accepting the risk because it fulfills an old ambition and gives him greater power to defend his new liege. The transformation consumes a Rank 5 World Boss core and body plus a Mythical battle set, succeeds, and changes him from Living Armor into a half-mortal knight riding a green dragon. His rank falls to match Lux’s Grade A Apostle level, but he regains a living face, reunites fully with his family, and becomes the model for a Covenant relationship based on mutual oaths rather than disposable animation. (Chapters 354–358, 432)
The rescue from the Abyss and the final war
Bedivere balances service with fatherhood throughout Heaven’s Gate’s campaigns. Lux deliberately withholds him from a battle against the Succubus Queen because he cannot guarantee Bedivere’s survival and knows Lilia and Heidi depend on him. During the invasion, however, Bedivere fights outside Leaf Town while his family shelters behind its failing barrier, then arrives with Heaven’s Gate to reinforce Wanid. His commitment is no longer limited to guarding one cottage: he protects the communities that now shelter his wife and child. (Chapters 890, 1113, 1115)
In the counteroffensive, Bedivere uses his dragon’s breath and radiant sword to tear through flying Abyssal monsters. He later appears among the fighters just below the alliance’s leading Peak Demigods, bringing a large force against Golden Abominations, and blocks a colossal breath attack aimed at Edea alongside Shax. The latest evidence leaves him active in the final battle rather than showing a death or separate postwar advancement. His arc completes the promise behind his first lingering soul: the knight who once could protect only two people becomes one of the defenders of an entire world. (Chapters 1144, 1187, 1208)
Appearance and personality
As the Crimson Wanderer, Bedivere is an empty crimson suit of Living Armor animated by a Beast Core. A mask temporarily restores the image of his former self: a handsome adult man with short blond hair and blue eyes. After the Covenant transformation, that face becomes part of a partly mortal body clad in the incorporated Faunus-style armor, usually seen riding a three-meter green dragon. (Chapters 349, 354–355)
Bedivere is solemn, affectionate, and defined by loyalty chosen under pressure. Death does not diminish his concern for Lilia and Heidi, and he accepts the loss of freedom implied by the Covenant only after Lux proves he will protect them. He is also willing to gamble on a dangerous transformation to become more useful. His formal oath and consistent battlefield conduct make him a traditional knight, but his happiest moments are domestic reunions rather than victories. (Chapters 349–365, 432, 778)
Dragon Knight abilities
Dragon mount, breath, and mounted swordsmanship
Bedivere fights from a green dragon whose flight and breath give him aerial reach. He combines the mount’s Dragon Breath with a sword that can radiate golden power, allowing him to charge flying hordes and intercept attacks aimed at Edea. As an earlier Living Armor he could hold a Rank 5 World Boss’s attention, but repeated Abyssal strikes would eventually break him. The Dragon Knight form improves mobility and offense without making him invulnerable or capable of ignoring superior rank. (Chapters 351, 355, 734, 1144, 1208)
Wonder Guard and Covenant mechanics
Wonder Guard reduces every kind of damage received by Bedivere and his mount, including Abyssal damage, by sixty percent. It is damage reduction rather than immunity. As a Covenant Knight, his rank always equals Lux’s: he grows when Lux grows, weakens if Lux weakens, and cannot raise his rank independently. The contract also permits revival for an adequate Beast Core cost and allows him to command a rank-scaled number of subordinates, but those followers remain his to summon rather than Lux’s. His custom body required rare, non-refundable materials and initially only a fifty-percent success chance. (Chapters 354–355, 432, 519)
Relationships
- Lilia and Heidi: Bedivere’s wife and daughter are the reason his soul remains in the mortal world and the central beneficiaries of his pact with Lux. (Chapters 349, 361, 365, 1113)
- Lux: Lux reunites Bedivere’s family, accepts his voluntary oath, and provides the materials for his Dragon Knight form. Bedivere responds with absolute but freely chosen loyalty. (Chapters 349–355, 432, 778)
- Cadmus: Bedivere and Cadmus overcome an early dispute and become allies within the guild’s expanding fighting force. (Chapter 358)
- Garret: Both are family men whom Lux sometimes keeps from battles too dangerous to survive, and both later mobilize with Heaven’s Gate against the Abyss. (Chapters 890, 1115)
