Ammar

Ammar is the elderly Elf who leads Moss Village when Lux and Aurora arrive. He initially enforces a culture hostile to Half-Elves, then rapidly changes course when Avernus demonstrates that insulting Lux could bring catastrophic retaliation on the settlement.

Biography

The Lionheart Tournament and the Hidden Domain

The “Ammar” cited throughout the Warring Kingdoms and War of Lions material is the Ammar Kingdom, not this Elven village chief. Those chapters describe an Ammarian army, its Dwarven-supported equipment, and its wars with Yelan; no individual named Ammar appears. Ammar the person therefore has no action in this planned phase, and his first verified appearance remains Chapter 1050 (Chapters 313, 315, 318–319, 324–325).

Abyssal invasion and broken memories

Ammar appears atop Moss Village's wall after Avernus uses Dragon Fear to force the Elves down. He apologizes for his guards insulting Lux, accepts responsibility for failing to order leniency, and begs for the village's survival. Once Lux ends the intimidation, Ammar immediately offers hospitality, showing that fear—not a principled rejection of the kingdom's anti-Half-Elf law—drives the policy change (Chapters 1050–1051).

At the welcoming banquet, Ammar toasts Lux and Aurora while privately wishing they would leave. He recognizes Lux's resemblance to Vincent and his eyes as Adeline's, because he knew their forbidden relationship and had warned Adeline against loving a human. When the visitors depart with her, Ammar maintains a polite farewell to protect Moss Village from future reprisal (Chapters 1052, 1058).

Appearance and personality

Ammar is an old Elf and established village head. He is cautious, deferential to overwhelming strength, protective of Moss Village, and capable of concealing resentment beneath formal hospitality. His familiarity with Adeline's past makes him observant enough to notice Lux's parentage clues, but his earlier support for exclusionary Elven law and his fear-driven welcome prevent the text from presenting him as an immediate moral convert (Chapters 1050–1052, 1058).

Leadership abilities

No combat class, named spell, weapon, or supernatural rank is given for Ammar. His demonstrated abilities are civic: speaking for the village, directing guards, coordinating elders, hosting visitors, and using apology and ceremony to de-escalate a threat. He also possesses long local memory concerning Adeline, Vincent, and the kingdom's laws, which lets him understand the danger and significance of Lux's arrival (Chapters 1050–1052).

His limitations are severe against high-ranked force. Avernus's Dragon Fear makes Ammar shudder, then overwhelms him alongside the other Elves until they vomit and collapse; he has no shown countermeasure. His authority likewise cannot make the anti-Half-Elf law meaningful against someone capable of destroying the kingdom. Negotiation and submission, rather than combat, are the only defenses he successfully applies (Chapters 1050–1051).

Relationships

  • Lux: Ammar moves from excluding Lux under Elven law to offering anxious hospitality after recognizing the power behind him (Chapters 1050–1052, 1058).
  • Avernus: Avernus's staged wrath and Dragon Fear force Ammar and the guards to apologize and admit Lux to Moss Village (Chapters 1050–1051).
  • Adeline: Ammar has known Adeline since youth and remembers warning her against Vincent; this history helps him recognize the likely connection between her and Lux (Chapters 1051–1052).
  • Aurora: Ammar hosts Aurora beside Lux and includes her in the public toast, though their relationship remains formal and brief (Chapter 1052).
