Eye Living in the Labyrinth

Eye Living in the Labyrinth is the constellation identity of Hishmith Kritz, an information broker whose sanctuary turns secrets into terrain, riddles, and innumerable doll-bodies. The Eye first assists Kim Gong-ja during the Magic Tower Grand Campaign, but later helps conceal his constellation status and is defeated, reduced to a tiny serpent, and pressed into his service.

Biography

From campaign guide to captured informant

The Eye initially watches Gong-ja's conflict with the Constellation Killer warily. During the Grand Campaign, it accepts him as a temporary follower, shares the main quest, guides his party to safe ground, and exposes routes or information needed by the anti-Magic Tower forces. That alliance proves conditional. The Eye later collaborates with Mutia to conceal Gong-ja's ascension, then abandons Mutia when her attack fails. Forced to defend its own sanctuary, it hides behind a riddle-world of dolls and secrets until Gong-ja recognizes that the apparent ground is its own enormous serpentine body. (Chapters 126–129, 291–313, and 329–334)

Defeat collapses the Eye into a palm-sized snake. It begs Gong-ja not to reveal the humiliating form, then becomes an unwilling but useful subordinate, exposing lies, enemy conditions, and hidden intentions during later stages. Carried like a bracelet, it recognizes the domain associated with its mortal identity and claims knowledge of every sanctuary's coordinates, though knowledge does not guarantee permission to enter. When temporarily transferred to Kim Yul, it searches for and pinpoints the sealed sanctuary of the Constellation Killer. (Chapters 334–357 and 371–376)

Appearance and personality

Within its Glass Palace, the Eye speaks through hundreds of millions of dolls, each holding a secret, while its true sanctuary form is a world-serpent encircling an abyss whose red eyes provide the only light. After defeat it becomes a tiny snake with wave-like scales and inverted-looking eyes, small enough to wrap around a wrist. The Eye is secretive, proud, opportunistic, and readily frightened when its own concealment fails, but it adapts quickly enough to become a reliable source of intelligence under compulsion. (Chapters 331–335)

Abilities and skills

The Eye governs the concealment, distortion, and exposure of information. It can detect lies and contradictions, reveal hidden conditions and psychological intent, issue quests, and guide followers through dangerous routes. Its assistance is unusually broad but not omniscient: it can know that a sanctuary exists or where it is while still lacking authority to enter, and a sufficiently well-kept secret can become the key to defeating its own puzzle. (Chapters 299–301, 329, 337, 344–349, and 375–376)

Its sanctuary externalizes those powers as a labyrinth of doll-bodies, secret records, misleading surfaces, and trauma-based traps. The immense serpent-body provides the world's physical foundation, making concealment both its defense and its weakness. Once Gong-ja identifies that foundation, the domain collapses and the Eye's body is reduced to a much less threatening form. The corpus does not give an independent physical combat technique comparable to its information authority. (Chapters 331–334)

Relationships

  • Hishmith Kritz: The human identity whose doll exhibition and sanctuary are recognized as expressions of the Eye's same domain.

  • Lone Seeker of Truth: A fellow information-oriented constellation and member of the Grand Campaign alliance.

Items

The Eye has no separately named personal item in the supplied corpus. Its small serpent body is carried around Gong-ja's wrist like a bracelet, but it remains the constellation itself rather than an independent artifact.
