Kim Gangchul

Kim Gangchul is a celebrated Korean Free Awakened who was the country's fastest person to reach A rank and was later described as AA rank. Secretly sponsored by Moon World, he believes the familiar Earth is virtual and follows Doctor Toppler's plan to preserve humanity through logout and Reset. His missions repeatedly bring him into conflict with Kang Woojin, culminating in an attempt to kill Kang Sooah and take Earth's Code. (Chapters 22, 26–27, 30, 73–74, 87, 89–93)

Biography

Pride, defeat, and survival under Alandal

Gangchul begins as Korea's public benchmark for Awakened success, refusing both guild membership and the creation of his own organization. When he appears at Alandal, he insists on meeting Woojin and reveals that Moon World sponsors him. Woojin treats the encounter as a hostile interview, defeats and maims him despite his speed and dagger skill, then holds him for information. Gangchul refuses to submit, incapacitates Woo Soonghoon with a thrown stone, retrieves a potion from an Inventory-like space, and escapes through a window even while badly wounded. (Chapters 22, 26–27, 30, 73–76)

Gangchul later returns voluntarily as Toppler's messenger, accepting that Woojin may kill him after he delivers questions about leveling and Earth's reality. Woojin spares and confines him, but Gangchul remains committed to Moon World's objective. When ordered to acquire Earth's Code, he attacks Sooah with an awl and a concealed needle, pushes aside Lee Soogyung, and charges through Do Jiwon and Cindy until Sunggoo restrains him with fire. Moon World then opens his physical capsule, forcibly ending his virtual presence. Gangchul survives in the devastated physical Earth, but his mission fails and he can no longer reconnect to Trahnet. Appearance and personality

The virtual-world chapters do not provide a detailed physical description of Gangchul. His physical body in the capsule is identified by Asian features. In combat he is defined visually by speed and accumulated injury: he continues moving after cuts to his limbs and shoulders, later appears with a bloody, split-looking face, and repeatedly struggles despite restraints. These scenes demonstrate endurance without establishing immunity to pain or injury. (Chapters 74, 90, 92)

Gangchul is proud, stubborn, secretive, and fatalistically devoted to Moon World's account of reality. He accepts death when he believes his message is complete, treats Toppler's explanations with reverence, and regards virtual Earth more like a game than an equally real life. That conviction lets him describe his goal as saving humanity while attempting to kill a child. His courage and self-sacrifice are genuine, but they remain attached to assumptions and orders that cause direct harm. (Chapters 74, 89–93)

Abilities and class

Gangchul is a high-rank Awakened whose exact class is not named. He moves fast enough to parry repeated sword attacks with a dagger, keeps many wounds superficial, and remains physically dangerous while severely injured. A wrist flick sends a stone hard enough to knock out Soonghoon, and he can launch a concealed needle toward Sooah. He also accesses an Inventory-like other-dimensional storage space from which he retrieves a potion. (Chapters 74, 89–92)

His rank is described inconsistently: the narrative calls him AA rank during his first capture, while Toppler later calls him A rank. The supplied chapters do not reconcile that wording or identify a formal class, main weapon, named skill, or elemental affinity. Against Woojin and the transformed Hong Sunggoo, his speed and durability are insufficient; Woojin repeatedly overwhelms him, and Sunggoo can immobilize him with flame bands without immediately burning him. Relationships

• Doctor Toppler: Toppler and Moon World groom Gangchul with dungeon knowledge and make him their messenger and Code-recovery agent. Gangchul treats Toppler's explanation as truth and continues the mission even when it requires his death or Sooah's. (Chapters 74, 87, 89–93)
• Kang Woojin: Woojin replaces Gangchul as Korea's strongest public figure, defeats him, uses him as a hostage, and later spares him as a messenger. Gangchul's loyalty to Moon World keeps turning that reprieve into renewed conflict. (Chapters 26–27, 73–74, 87, 89–93)
• Kang Sooah: Gangchul targets Sooah because Moon World identifies her with Earth's Code. He attempts to kill her with an awl and hidden needle, but fails when her family and Alandal's defenders intervene. (Chapters 90, 92–93)
• Hong Sunggoo: Sunggoo stops Gangchul's attack by intercepting the projectile and binding his limbs with controlled fire. The encounter makes the former national number one powerless against Alandal's transformed fighter. (Chapter 92)
