Xiao Han

Xiao Han is Lir University's strongest student pilot during its exchange with National Eastern University. Initially arrogant and nearly an eighth-level Adept, he treats attention and victory as things he is owed; defeat by Tang Xiao becomes the grievance that drives more disciplined improvement. When alien forces attack Lir, that motivation has matured into a willingness to defend others even at the cost of his life. (Chapters 165–189 and 659–664)

Biography

Defeat, discipline, and the defense of Lir

Xiao Han first appears aggressively pursuing Zhou Qianlin despite her lack of interest, until Lan Jue secretly disables him so she can attend a concert in peace. He remains Lir's trump card for the university exchange: a Sovereign-ranked pilot with a powerful fire Discipline who expects his greater energy to overwhelm Tang Xiao. Tang Xiao instead provokes him into an overcommitted Meteor Strike; the heat and force exceed what the standardized mecha can safely channel, leaving Xiao Han stuck and defeated by metal manipulation. He nearly lashes out after emerging from the machine, but Su He stops him and reframes the humiliation as a necessary lesson. (Chapters 165–189 and 192)

More than a year later, Xiao Han has turned that loss into sustained training under Su He. He volunteers to remain when aliens assault Lir, uses a Sovereign-class rifle mecha as one of the defense's most effective pilots, and keeps firing after both his body and machine are nearly spent. Damage causes his ejection mechanism to fail, leaving him trapped and unconscious until Star Division breaks open the cockpit. On recovering, he seeks out Tang Xiao—the rival he had imagined defeating—and learns that Tang was the pilot who saved him. Xiao Han overcomes his first anger, offers genuine thanks, and accepts a handshake as brothers-in-arms. He is last seen alive but injured in Chapter 664; no later passage provides an individual fate. Appearance and personality

Xiao Han is a tall young man whose early presence feels oppressive enough to match his fiery Talent. He begins boisterous, entitled, proud of being Lir's best student, and prone to letting anger dictate his tactics. He is also observant enough to recognize valuable power gems and respectful enough of Su He to stop when his teacher intervenes. (Chapters 165, 172, and 183–192)

His later composure is earned rather than innate. Xiao Han still thinks of Tang Xiao as the defining rival of his student life, but the desire for revenge sustains hard work instead of another reckless challenge. During the invasion he accepts exhaustion and death as possible costs of defending the university, and gratitude finally replaces humiliation when he learns who rescued him. (Chapters 659–664)

Disciplines and abilities

At the university exchange, Xiao Han is a Sovereign-ranked pilot and a fire Adept close to, but not yet at, eighth level. His Discipline creates golden-red flame, a fiery corona, energy blasts, and explosive propulsion, and it empowers his mecha's sword and thrusters. Meteor Strike converts that force into a committed high-speed attack. The exchange demonstrates its practical limit: a standardized machine cannot safely contain his full output, and anger makes the linear commitment easier for a tactical opponent to exploit. By the alien invasion he has improved dramatically, although the corpus does not assign him a new Adept rank. He operates a Sovereign-class ranged mecha with a large laser rifle and kills more attackers than any defender except Su He. Neither rank nor training makes him inexhaustible: accumulated damage ruins the machine's leg and ejection system, while energy depletion brings his body close to collapse. His survival depends on Star Division's timely intervention, not an unrecorded breakthrough. (Chapters 659–661)

Relationships

• Su He: Su He is Xiao Han's senior and partial teacher. He restrains Xiao Han after the exchange defeat, helps him understand it as instruction, and later shapes the disciplined defender who fights beside him at Lir.
• Tang Xiao: Tang Xiao defeats Xiao Han by exploiting his temper and later saves him during the alien invasion. Their handshake changes a long-held grudge into mutual recognition as brothers-in-arms.
• Zhou Qianlin: Xiao Han's first pursuit of Qianlin is unwanted and establishes his early entitlement. The corpus does not turn that pursuit into a relationship.
• Lan Jue: Lan Jue covertly stops Xiao Han from interfering with Qianlin's concert. Xiao Han does not know the full reason for his sudden incapacitation in that scene.
