Vermillion Bird’s Battle Gown
The Vermillion Bird’s Battle Gown is the flame-inscribed armor Xiao Qi receives with the Vermillion Bird’s inheritance. It responds to her fire power and protects her from heat that would otherwise threaten its own caster.
History
Armor of the Vermillion inheritor
Xiao Qi first displays the gown during Ling Tian City’s defense. When she summons Vermillion Death, its red markings brighten and become real flames burning around her body without consuming the garment. The gown continues protecting her when she is surrounded by crimson fire after a fall, supporting her return to Xi Ling’s back and renewed spellcasting. The Vermillion Bird’s warning nevertheless makes clear that this protection is limited rather than absolute. (Chapters 560–562)
Abilities and properties
- Fire response: The gown’s inscriptions ignite when Vermillion Death appears, surrounding Xiao Qi with visible flame. This reaction is linked to the inherited equipment and does not establish that the gown independently casts offensive magic. (Chapter 560)
- Heat protection: It shields Xiao Qi from her own fire, including some of the danger posed by Dazzling Red Lotus. The Vermillion Bird says that the spell can still burn her even through the gown, so the protection reduces rather than cancels extreme divine flame. (Chapter 562)
- No ally protection: The gown protects its wearer only. Dazzling Red Lotus remains indiscriminate and can harm nearby friends, one reason Xiao Qi is warned not to use it before reaching level ninety. (Chapter 562)
