Evil God’s Mask

The Evil God’s Mask is the Feng Chen Sect’s inherited defensive treasure. It prevents and reflects an otherwise lethal instance of damage, giving Ling Chen protection against killing blows while leaving nonlethal harm and attacks during its cooldown untouched.

History

Inheritance from the Feng Chen Sect

Xiao Feng Chen offers the Mask alongside a profession inheritance when Ling Chen agrees to join the Feng Chen Sect. Forged from an Ancient Evil God’s corpse and carrying part of its hatred, the treasure had disappeared from public knowledge during Xiao Feng Chen’s confinement in Lunar Sky Hell. Ling Chen accepts it as both sect regalia and an unusually strong survival tool. (Chapters 265–270)

Reflected attacks and tactical confidence

The Mask repeatedly turns lethal attacks back on their source during Ling Chen’s East Ocean campaign and later battles. It reflects the Cherry Blossom God Representative’s petals, a Purple-Winged Cloud Leopard’s collision, Underworld creatures’ attacks, and the Undead War God’s damage. These successes encourage Ling Chen to confront enemies above his level, but the ten-second gap after each activation still forces him to evade follow-up blows. (Chapters 417–427, 579–581, 644–652)

Recognized inside the Moon God Palace

The Moon Goddesses identify the Mask as proof that Ling Chen inherited the Feng Chen Sect. It reflects their first Mysterious God-grade attacks and an arrow, reinforcing the relic’s usefulness against individual lethal impacts even at much higher power tiers. The Mask does not conceal its identity from ancient experts, and removing it also removes that defensive layer. (Chapters 728, 740–742)

Power beyond the Mask’s rules

During the Godchild crisis, attacks from beings operating beyond Mystic Moon’s ordinary rules exceed the Mask’s scope, and the system explicitly reports that it cannot activate. Lunar Scourge Divine Armour effects must prevent those deaths instead. The final conflict therefore establishes a hard ceiling: the Mask is a supreme in-world defense, not absolute protection against every cosmological level of force. (Chapters 806–807, 813)

Abilities and properties

• Lethal-damage reflection: When an incoming damage event would kill the wearer, the Mask negates that event and reflects its damage. Nonlethal attacks pass through normally, so it does not function as general armor. (Chapters 265–270)
• Ten-second cooldown: After saving the wearer, the effect cannot trigger again for ten seconds. Repeated attacks within that interval can still kill Ling Chen, as the Purple-Winged Cloud Leopard encounter demonstrates. (Chapters 270, 581)
• Broad hazard coverage: Xiao Feng Chen says that the protection applies to enemy attacks, traps, and fatal falls. The corpus directly demonstrates combat reflection, while the broader hazard cases are inherited user knowledge rather than separate on-page trials by Ling Chen. (Chapter 270)
• Rule-bound ceiling: Damage that surpasses the world system’s rules bypasses the effect entirely. The Mask also does not protect companions standing beside the wearer. (Chapters 579, 806–807, 813)
• Unresolved hidden property: Xiao Feng Chen reports that earlier masters suspected another effect, but neither he nor Ling Chen discovers or demonstrates it in the supplied corpus. (Chapter 270)
