Hel

Hel, better known as Death Singer, is one of Ki Song's seven Transcendent daughters and a revered oracle of the former Song Domain. A haruspicina who reads the entrails of sacrificed beasts, she combines useful tactical revelations with a persistent conviction that death and catastrophe are near. (Chapters 1857–1858 and 1921)

Biography

The oracle enters the Domain War

Hel arrived late to a Song war council with fresh blood coating her hands, having apparently completed a divination. She whispered her findings to Revel, whose ensuing plan divided Song's forces between urgent objectives rather than waiting for safer conditions. Hel was assigned to guide Seishan's expedition across Godgrave's surface toward the broad region above a hidden Citadel. (Chapters 1857–1858)

In the scarlet jungle, Hel and Seishan culled powerful local rulers so that the army's Saints could anchor the battle line. When asked to examine the Citadel's guardian, Hel first repeated her long-standing prophecy that death was coming, then identified the creature more practically as a Great Demon. Seishan used that information to order the army to fortify while a small Transcendent party approached the guardian. (Chapters 1921–1922)

Claiming the Citadel and holding Song territory

The assault depended on divided roles. Seishan, Siord, and Ceres occupied the Great Demon in a battle they were unlikely to win directly, while Hel slipped into the Citadel and claimed its Gateway. Once the Citadel entered Ki Song's Domain, the Queen could intervene against its guardian. Later Song princesses explicitly treated Seishan and Hel's maneuver as the model for taking a Citadel without defeating every defender first. (Chapters 1924 and 2209)

Hel subsequently remained one of the Saints protecting Song's Lesser Stronghold, alongside Lonesome Howl and Silent Stalker. Enemy commanders judged that the Lord of Shadows could overpower that group, but attacking them would expose the Sword Army elsewhere; her role was therefore strategic deterrence and territorial defense as well as divination. The corpus does not isolate a direct duel or casualty for Hel during the war's conclusion. (Chapter 2075)

A former princess in the Human Domain

After Ki Song's fall, Hel continued working with her sisters rather than opposing the unified Human Domain. At the Jade Palace she detected Sunny while he was hidden as a shadow, describing the room as smelling of death and calling him a dead boy. She later survived being stranded with Seishan and Revel when Sunny's sudden disappearance left three Cursed Nightmare Creatures in the Toy Room; Seishan trapped the creatures in the Jade Queen's dollhouse before Nephis healed the sisters' wounds. (Chapters 2305 and 2413)

Hel wandered between her sisters' Citadels instead of governing one permanent holding. When the King of Nothing threatened humanity, she foresaw subjugation and the loss of free will rather than immediate death. During the latest battle at the Lake of Tears, Hel and Beastmaster were barely holding Mordret's advance away from the Gateway. The engagement is unresolved, but Hel remains alive and fighting in her last direct scene. (Chapters 2781 and 2812)

Appearance and personality

Hel is a petite young woman with luscious hair, a lovely and innocent-looking face, large glistening eyes, and a habit of wearing dark robes. Her hands are sometimes slick with sacrificial blood after divination. Her face can become genuinely terrified by what she senses, only for her manner to turn clumsy or nonchalant when she narrows a prophecy into useful information. (Chapters 1857 and 1921)

She is mysterious and revered publicly but markedly eccentric around her sisters. Hel has predicted death since their orphanage childhood, excitedly asks Nephis whether she can keep one of Sunny's incarnations, and requires Seishan to remind her to moderate comments about seeing dead people. These scenes support morbidity, enthusiasm, and poor social restraint, not cruelty or a wish for her predictions to come true. (Chapters 1921, 2305, and 2413)

Abilities and Aspect

Haruspicy and tactical revelation

Hel receives revelations by inspecting the entrails of sacrificed beasts, making her a haruspicina. Her findings can guide operational planning and navigation: she brought Seishan's force to the correct region above a hidden Citadel and identified its guardian as a Great Demon. The method requires a sacrifice in the demonstrated war-council scene, but the corpus does not define its range, accuracy, preparation time, or whether every later perception uses entrails. (Chapters 1857–1858 and 1921)

Her prophecies are also difficult to interpret. Hel repeatedly perceives approaching death in broad, horrifying terms that Seishan treats as a familiar constant rather than actionable timing. She can produce a specific present reading when pressed, and later anticipates Mordret's effort to enslave minds. These results show genuine insight alongside ambiguity; they do not establish infallibility or complete knowledge of the future. (Chapters 1921, 2781, and 2812)

Affinity with death

Hel can perceive something associated with death strongly enough to discover Sunny while his Supreme shadow presence is fully suppressed. She describes both the room and Sunny himself through the language of death, accurately noticing that he had died despite lacking ordinary blood in that state. Whether this is scent, spiritual sight, or another revelatory sense is not formally explained. (Chapter 2305)

The corpus never names Hel's Aspect, Aspect rank, Attributes, Flaw, Transformation, or offensive abilities. Her Saint physique lets her traverse Godgrave and survive the battles surrounding Citadel conquest, but no specific combat mechanic should be inferred from the title Death Singer. • Seishan: Seishan understands how to turn Hel's broad prophecies into practical information and trusts her to claim a Citadel while the other Saints stall its guardian. They continue cooperating after the Song Domain falls. (Chapters 1921–1924, 2305, and 2781–2812)
