Waltz

Waltz is the eldest of the Nine Dragon Sons and the Summer Queen's chosen successor. She combines the One-horned tribe's martial arts with a Dragon Human body, earning recognition as the Spring Queen and leading White Dragon after Red Dragon's fall. Her formidable self-control is rooted in fear of abandonment, and her effort to preserve her mother's legacy ultimately binds her to a war that destroys both her clan and herself.

Biography

Inheriting the Summer Queen's unfinished life

Waltz competes to remain the Summer Queen's first Apostle, but the queen's death turns rivalry into inheritance. She rushes to the fallen queen as a daughter calling for her mother, then gathers the remnants of Red Dragon into White Dragon and accepts the old grudge against the Martial King and Yeon-woo as her responsibility. Although the Summer Queen once told her to live freely, Waltz interprets loyalty as proof that she deserves the family and position that earlier abandonment denied her. (Chapters 238–244, 405–415)

Building White Dragon through calculation

As Spring Queen, Waltz pushes Blood Land back, pursues Yeon-woo with a Nascent Soul Body, and uses the Dragon Labyrinth to recover strength while allowing rival kings to weaken one another. She survives Yeon-woo's trap through the Head Bishop's escape plan and later restores more of the Summer Queen's legacy, choosing to aid resistance against Arthia because no one will defend White Dragon if it falls. The gamble briefly drives Arthia backward, but Doyle's victory breaks the clan's momentum and leaves its recovery incomplete. (Chapters 281–284, 405–428, 498, 541)

Choosing the manner of her end

Waltz attacks the One-horned tribe to secure Ananta and Sesha even after recognizing that the wider operation is failing, buying time because retreat would abandon her side's objective. Yeon-woo answers by destroying White Dragon's headquarters while the resurrected Summer Queen kills Waltz's remaining followers. Concluding that every loyalty has treated her as expendable, Waltz stops resisting the flames so that her death will be her own decision; seeing the queen's grief at the end lets her understand the act as release and thank her mother before disappearing. Appearance and personality

Waltz normally appears as a composed female martial artist with calm, watchful eyes. Her awakened Dragon Human form covers her torso in scales, extends wings from her shoulders, and adds a tail whose impact shakes the ground. Blue wind surrounds her declared domain, while multiple Nascent Soul Bodies can appear as separated shadows of her cultivated self. (Chapters 238–240, 282–283, 424–428)

She is disciplined, analytical, proud, and fiercely loyal. Waltz can suppress immediate revenge to use a truce, allow competitors to exhaust themselves, and retreat when strategy demands it. Beneath that control is a profound wound created by abandoned parents and unreliable allies. She treats achievement as the way to overcome fate, so the Summer Queen's apparent rejection destroys the belief that sustained her more completely than defeat alone could. Dragon Human awakening and draconic magic

Waltz has reached the sixth step of Dragon Human awakening, giving her scales, wings, a tail, immense physical force, and a dragon's mind capable of influencing natural law. Her draconic magic helps her understand Kalatus' labyrinth and recover through its dragon-linked mechanisms. Much of this power descends from the Summer Queen, which becomes a decisive limitation in their final confrontation: the original dragon understands and overwhelms the legacy Waltz inherited. One-horned martial arts

Waltz combines draconic power with the One-horned tribe's internal cultivation. Hundred Step Fist focuses strength and magic into a ranged impact that crushes Kalatus' eye, while her close combat lets her pressure Yeon-woo even after he kills other kings. Her Heart Sword-level will and cultivated domain strengthen those attacks, but foresight can reveal their route, and accumulated damage reduces how long she can maintain peak force. Nascent Soul Bodies and domain

Nascent Soul Bodies are purified shadow bodies produced through advanced internal cultivation, allowing Waltz to act at a distance and multiply her battlefield presence. She also declares a blue-wind domain that pushes against Yeon-woo's shadow territory. Destroying the bodies inflicts a real toll, however; after Fire Lightning eliminates them in the Dragon Temple, Waltz admits she cannot hold Yeon-woo for long. By the latest chapter, all these abilities end with her chosen death in the Summer Queen's flames. (Chapters 282–283, 425, 427–428, 621)

Relationships

• Summer Queen: Waltz treats the Summer Queen as mother, sovereign, and the source of her purpose. Their final battle reveals that the queen's apparent cruelty is also an attempt to release her daughter from an inherited burden.
• Yeon-woo: Waltz considers Yeon-woo responsible for her mother's death and repeatedly tries to kill him. He defeats White Dragon strategically even when he does not defeat Waltz in a simple duel.
• Edora: Edora opposes Waltz during conflicts involving the One-horned tribe. Their different relationships to tribal inheritance place them on opposite sides of the final attack.
• Gluttony Emperor: Waltz drives Blood Land into retreat and later shares a temporary battlefield with its emperor. She survives the trap that kills him because she preserves more options.
• Martial King: The Martial King kills the Summer Queen and becomes part of the grudge Waltz inherits, even though her own One-horned martial foundation connects her to his tribe.
