Gluttony Emperor
The Gluttony Emperor is Blood Land's absolute ruler and a Nine Kings member whose appetite has been magnified by the Stone of Gula. He can be generous and disarmingly cheerful when treating someone as a desired guest, but his hunger turns people, artifacts, and even dragons into things to consume. That contradiction lets Yeon-woo exploit his hospitality before confronting the threat he once posed to Jeong-woo.
Biography
An empire organized around appetite
The Gluttony Emperor builds Blood Land as a country whose thousands of followers answer to his whims, extending his reach even to lower floors whenever something interests him. His desire for dragon flesh led him to pressure Jeong-woo and later pursue Brahm and Sesha. When the disguised Yeon-woo visits for Jamshid's Liquor, the emperor instead welcomes him lavishly, offers an alliance against White Dragon, and gives him a treasured luck-enhancing knife, never realizing that his guest already intends to kill him. Hunger overwhelms strategy
War with Waltz's White Dragon places Blood Land under pressure, so the emperor follows Yeon-woo's plan into the Dragon Labyrinth hoping to remove rivals and claim its treasures. Kalatus' emergence breaks what judgment he has left: the Stone of Gula intensifies his starvation until he attacks allies, bites through the dragon king's leg, and tries to monopolize the flesh. Eating Kalatus improves his control of the stone, but his fixation leaves Blood Land exposed when Yeon-woo turns the battlefield into his territory. (Chapters 405–425)
The object of hunger becomes the price
The emperor interprets Yeon-woo's attack as an incomprehensible betrayal because he mistakes gifts and friendliness for a bond Yeon-woo shares. He releases the Stone of Gula, expands his body, and regenerates through purple energy, but the larger form becomes slower and easier to dissect. Yeon-woo cuts the stone's energy flow, drains it through Bathory's Vampiric Sword, and takes the emperor's soul and power; afterward, Shanon develops the stolen Ruk while the combined Soulstones preserve the consequence of the emperor's defeat. Appearance and personality
The Gluttony Emperor is an extremely obese man whose layered fat and large-pored face visibly swell as he eats. When Gula is fully released, his body expands many times over, his eyes redden, and purple energy surrounds a giant-like frame. Severe hunger strips away his courtly presentation entirely, leaving him drooling, burned, and behaving like a beast over contested meat. (Chapters 318, 320, 424–426)
He is cheerful, impulsive, possessive, and governed by appetite. He sincerely enjoys hosting Yeon-woo and can regret harming followers after a hunger episode, but neither feeling creates restraint the next time starvation takes hold. Blood Land's loyalty insulates him from consequences, reinforcing his belief that people below him should kneel and that whatever he desires is already his to consume. (Chapters 318–321, 425–426)
Abilities and powers
The Stone of Gula and consumption
The Stone of Gula amplifies the emperor's hunger and lets him convert what he consumes into strength. Dragon flesh helps him control the Soulstone and its purple energy more effectively, while his bite pierces Kalatus' scales and severs a leg. The same mechanism continually pushes desire toward addiction: prolonged hunger produces lunacy, indiscriminate attacks, and an inability to recognize when consuming more has stopped restoring reason. Guai Ruk Nan Shin
The emperor's power is connected to Guai Ruk Nan Shin and distributed among his principal subordinates. Ruk represents physical power, while the other portions include monstrous, chaotic, and ghostly properties that Yeon-woo later separates and assigns among his forces. The connection lets Blood Land's dukes respond when their emperor is threatened, but it also creates a transferable legacy: after the emperor and dukes die, Yeon-woo absorbs the remaining functions and Shanon's Ruk begins evolving. Expansion and regeneration
Releasing Gula expands the emperor roughly tenfold, increases his striking force, and floods his body with purple energy that rapidly regenerates severed arms and burned flesh. The transformation is powerful but poorly controlled. Added size reduces his speed, his magic flow can be severed at visible imperfections, and regeneration fails once the Soulstone is drained. His latest state has no access to these powers because Yeon-woo takes both the stone and his soul. (Chapter 426)
Relationships
- Yeon-woo: The emperor courts the disguised Yeon-woo as a valued friend and ally. Yeon-woo accepts his resources while remembering the threat to Jeong-woo, then kills him and absorbs Gula.
- Jeong-woo: The emperor's desire for dragon flesh makes Jeong-woo a target. That history is the reason his later kindness cannot purchase Yeon-woo's loyalty.
- Shanon: Shanon helps stop the emperor's dukes and later inherits Ruk, the physical-strength portion of Guai Ruk Nan Shin.
- Waltz: Waltz leads White Dragon against Blood Land and badly outclasses the emperor strategically. They temporarily attack Kalatus on the same battlefield without becoming allies.
- Kalatus: Kalatus becomes the ultimate object of the emperor's hunger. Consuming his flesh strengthens Gula but also draws the emperor into the trap where he dies.
