Diablo

Diablo is the first demonic dragon, a High Guardian counted among the Central Bureau's strongest members, and a principal combatant in Yvlke's rebellion.

Biography

A High Guardian joins the insurrection

Diablo first appears beside Yvlke while their strength gives their side the upper hand. The Bureau ranks the dragon alongside Klus as one of its two strongest High Guardians, but that authority does not keep Diablo loyal to its director. He enters Klus's office with Yvlke and the other insurgents, revealing that the emergencies exhausting the Bureau are part of a coordinated rebellion. From then on, Diablo serves as one of the uprising's most formidable enforcers rather than as a neutral guardian of the Tower. (Chapters 462–463, 483)

The last pursuit

Much later, Diablo pursues Hayang and Ananta in human form before returning to his true draconic body. He regards himself as the first demonic dragon and their king, and the resonance of his Dragon Heart makes him sensitive to surviving draconic kin. Against the Head Elder, he unleashes repeated Breath attacks while Central Bureau authority repairs and supports the Guardians. Yeon-woo's darkness severs that system assistance, exposing the rebel forces to lasting damage; Yeon-woo then closes on Diablo, and Sword Thunder ultimately tears the dragon apart. (Chapters 633–637)

Appearance and personality

Diablo initially appears in this final campaign as a black-haired man. His true form is an immense demonic dragon driven by a Dragon Heart, making the contrast between his restrained humanoid guise and his battlefield body especially stark. (Chapters 633–635)

He is commanding, proud of his origin, and certain of his right to rule demonic dragons. Diablo issues direct orders and fights with disciplined aggression, but he also pauses his own engagement to assist Lapis when the insurgents' wider line is threatened. His loyalty is therefore not to the old Bureau but to Yvlke's collective rebellion. (Chapters 483, 634–636)

Abilities and powers

Dragon Heart and true form

Diablo's Dragon Heart resonates with draconic beings and allows him to sense kin. Reverting to his true form releases the scale and durability expected of a first-generation demonic dragon, while his Breath bombards a target continuously across the battlefield. (Chapters 634–635)

High Guardian authority

As a High Guardian, Diablo benefits from Central Bureau system authority that restores and protects participating Guardians. This support makes direct attrition difficult, but it is also a dependency: Yeon-woo's darkness cuts the connection, and Sword Thunder can then inflict fatal damage that the system no longer reverses. (Chapters 635–637)

Relationships

  • Yvlke: Diablo is one of Yvlke's strongest collaborators in the Central Bureau insurrection. (Chapters 462, 483)
  • Klus: Diablo is ranked with Klus among the strongest High Guardians, then helps overthrow his administration. (Chapters 463, 483)
  • Yeon-woo: Yeon-woo blocks Diablo's system authority and kills him with Sword Thunder. (Chapters 635–637)
  • Laplace: Both are High Guardians in the rebellion, although Diablo suffers the more complete destruction. (Chapters 483, 637)
