Yvlke

Yvlke is the first and oldest Guardian of the Tower, a genial-looking administrator whose fascination with unusual players conceals his identity as Sage and the Black King's former main ego.

Biography

The oldest Guardian finds an irregular

Stationed on the Tutorial's zeroth floor, Yvlke notices that Yeon-woo is advancing far beyond the expected standard and chooses to observe rather than expose him. Curiosity and a taste for entertainment temper his official duties: he protects the secrecy of Yeon-woo's performance, administers his rewards, and later helps the dying Brahm hold on long enough to receive Hermes's message. His conduct establishes both genuine interest and a recurring limitation—Guardians administer the system, but direct interference can trigger penalties and divine territories can lie beyond their view. Sage seizes the Central Bureau

Yvlke eventually abandons the pose of a merely amused administrator and leads a Bureau revolt with Laplace. He wounds Hayang with Gaia's Curse, subordinates other Guardians, and turns a security institution into his own power base. The coup reveals that his patient observation had always coexisted with a willingness to manipulate rules and people; rather than preserve the Tower's established order, he uses the Bureau's authority to prepare a world governed by his own answer to its instability. Pian, defeat, and the rewound wheel

Revealed as Sage—the Black King's long-serving main ego and also a face of the Heavenly Demon—Yvlke seeks Li's Fragment and other powers to create Pian, a refuge that will not collapse with another passing dream. He confronts Yeon-woo with accumulated darkness and legends from destroyed worlds, but Yeon-woo infects him through the abandoned domain of death, destroys him, and absorbs the main ego's place. The later rewind restores Yvlke as a living individual, yet Yeon-woo retrieves the Black King abilities and removes him from office, leaving him to face both supporters and political enemies without his former institutional or cosmic supremacy. Appearance and personality

Yvlke usually appears as a small goblin dressed in a tuxedo and monocle, with prominent canine teeth and impeccably polite manners. His distinctive laugh and delighted curiosity make him seem whimsical, but he is secretive, calculating, and willing to let dangerous situations develop for the sake of observation. His plan for Pian gives that manipulation a motive: after enduring the repeated rise and collapse of the Black King's dreams, he wants a world that can remain.

Abilities and powers

Yvlke's powers combine Guardian authority, curses, and the accumulated darkness of the Black King's former main ego. The corpus also makes his latest limitation explicit: after the rewind, Yeon-woo takes back the abilities associated with that ego.

Guardian authority and system knowledge

As the oldest Guardian and a High Guardian, Yvlke can monitor players through the Bureau's screens and cloud, administer trials and rewards, move through controlled spaces, and coordinate restoration when divine conflict damages a stage. These privileges grant extensive information and operational reach rather than unrestricted action. System penalties constrain direct interference, and even senior Guardians cannot normally observe sealed divine territories such as Tartarus. (Chapters 52–72, 206–208, 393, and 804)

Darkness, legends, and Gaia's Curse

As the Black King's main ego, Yvlke controls a vast portion of its darkness and can call forth perished gods and other legends preserved from former dreams. In his final struggle with Yeon-woo, those manifestations include catastrophes whose stories survive through the Black King, giving him both numbers and varied powers. He also demonstrates Gaia's Curse while taking the Bureau, seriously injuring Hayang. These powers do not make him invulnerable: Yeon-woo turns the domain of death into a route of infection, defeats him, and in the rewound history removes the ego-derived abilities entirely. Relationships

• Yeon-woo: Yvlke first treats him as a fascinating irregular, then opposes him over the Black King's identity and the fate of the dream; Yeon-woo ultimately defeats him and later strips his powers and office.
• Heavenly Demon: Yvlke is one of his faces, linking Sage's history to the Heavenly Demon's divided identities even while Yvlke pursues his own Pian.
• Allforone: Yvlke's concealed nature and long observation intersect with Allforone's control of the Tower, making him both an administrator within and a schemer against the existing order.
• Jeong-woo: Jeong-woo's history with the Black King becomes part of the inheritance and conflict that eventually brings Yvlke into open opposition with the brothers.
