Demonism

Demonism is an intelligent, predatory ego-fragment arising from the Black King's darkness. The Demonism that grows inside Yeon-woo is formed when a vestige in the Cast of the Black King changes through Agares's magic and the Stone of Sin; it is neither the complete Black King nor Yeon-woo, but a rival consciousness that offers power while cultivating him as a future body.

Biography

A voice grows inside the Stone

The first Demonism Yeon-woo recognizes speaks from the Philosopher's Stone after the Black King's remnant there mixes with Agares's demonic influence. It encourages appetite, violence, and the use of Hyoongshin Acksal, sometimes aligning with Yeon-woo's immediate goals while treating enemies such as the Summer Queen as food. Yeon-woo tests its limits and discovers that, despite calling itself another aspect of him, it cannot freely read every plan in his mind. (Chapters 241–255)

When it draws Yeon-woo into an internal star-filled space, Demonism adopts the posture of a mocking younger twin but reveals a different objective: it wants him to grow “ripe” enough to consume. It accelerates his recovery and occasionally unlocks strength because a stronger vessel will ultimately feed its own emergence. The exchange establishes their unstable bargain—Demonism can assist and advise, but every benefit is an investment in replacing the consciousness that currently owns the body. (Chapters 261–284)

Borrowing Yeon-woo against Allforone

As Yeon-woo's Factors and Stone develop, Demonism can press closer to the surface without taking complete control. Its magic enters his transformations, appears through his eyes during anger, and frightens Anastasia with knowledge Yeon-woo himself does not consciously possess. These incidents demonstrate partial leakage rather than identity merger: Yeon-woo continues speaking and choosing independently, while Demonism observes from the subconscious and can address another mind through the shared body without his awareness. (Chapters 278–325)

When Allforone threatens Jeong-woo and the Underworld forces, Demonism cuts off Yeon-woo's ordinary control and shows how to use the vessel's accumulated strength. Yeon-woo's consciousness remains present, but Demonism takes over action, habit, instinct, and part of the subconscious, creating an unstable “Yeon-woo and not Yeon-woo” state. The union breaks Allforone's field, restores Faust's buried abilities, and summons the Summer Queen as a Bone Dragon, yet afterward Yeon-woo collapses with divine fever while Demonism retreats and again demands further growth. Vigrid gives the hunger a body

Reading the revelations strengthens Yeon-woo's Stone of Sin and, with it, Demonism. Rather than wait to borrow Yeon-woo, the ego takes Vigrid as a temporary body, exploiting the sword's many accumulated vestiges and its suitability as a spirit vessel. It overwhelms the Vampiric Lord already associated with the blade, then attacks Yeon-woo and Allforone inside the Changgong Library. The confrontation clarifies Demonism's origin as transformed Black King remnants while preserving its separate, self-interested will. (Chapters 491–493)

Demonism's Vigrid body eats attacks and physical space through Predation Emptiness, repairs wounds with blackness, and fights Yeon-woo until the latter combines death and battle into a poisoning attack. The temporary vessel constrains how much magic Demonism can draw, while maintaining an external spirit body consumes energy continuously; those limits make a prolonged contest increasingly unfavorable. Unable to consume the now-equal Yeon-woo, Demonism withdraws into Vigrid, which Yeon-woo binds with divine-iron chains and seals in emptiness. (Chapters 493–497)

A bargain over the Crawling Chaos

Yeon-woo later releases the sealed power because divine combat in Tartarus requires strength he cannot otherwise sustain. Their combination replenishes his exhausted organs and allows attacks beyond his unaided limit, while Demonism gains another opportunity to act through him. Inside the Crawling Chaos's unconscious, Demonism helps overcome the imprisoned being, then separates from Yeon-woo with Vigrid in hand and takes possession of the captured black sphere before the exhausted allied spirits can stop it. (Chapters 519–532)

Rather than consume everything, Demonism bargains for the Crawling Chaos's ego alone. It precisely divides consciousness from the other being's holy power and achievements, keeps the ego, and returns the remaining accumulation to Yeon-woo. This does not make Demonism the Crawling Chaos or Complete Chaos: the transaction explicitly separates one consciousness from its powers, and Demonism states that swallowing the whole entity would be harmful. Its choice reveals that a stable ego, not raw energy alone, is central to its bid for independent existence. (Chapter 532)

Kronos rejects the cuckoo

The history inside Kronos's consciousness reveals another dimension of Demonism's parasitism. A manifestation of the Black King's darkness had been contained by Uranus's holy power, then leaked into Kronos, suppressed his reason, and helped turn duty into madness and tyranny. Long after Kronos's soul separated from his true body, Demonism used synchronization with the body and the legends it had influenced to claim ownership, expecting that an abandoned divine vessel would let its unstable ego mature into a supreme independent being. (Chapters 565–577)

Kronos's restored ego reclaims enough authority over his body to contest that synchronization, while Yeon-woo binds and devours the conscious world containing the intruder. The attack appears to destroy the specific Demonism, but a later revelation corrects that conclusion: the same ego hides among the Demonisms collected in the abyss because it fears Yeon-woo's retaliation. After defeating Sage, Yeon-woo combines and absorbs the remaining Demonisms, easily containing this former tormentor as it disappears into the new main ego. No independent manifestation is shown afterward. (Chapters 577–579, 789, and 798)

Appearance and personality

Inside Yeon-woo's consciousness, Demonism first appears as an ashen human silhouette without features except a mouth. That mouth can split toward the ear, expose predatory fangs, or widen into an abyss. When using Vigrid, it becomes a black, featureless humanoid spirit whose wounds release darkness instead of blood; during possession, it does not create an independent body but alters Yeon-woo's bearing, voice, eyes, instincts, and the monstrous impression of his mask. Demonism is mocking, impatient, hungry, and intensely anxious about stabilizing its own identity. It calls aid an investment, treats rivals and souls as meals, and enjoys forcing others into bargains they cannot safely refuse. Its laughter and theatrical provocations conceal strategic restraint: it waits while Yeon-woo matures, chooses a limited share of the Crawling Chaos instead of overeating, and retreats when Vigrid's limits make victory unlikely. Its desire for independence distinguishes it from the sleeping totality whose will it only partially expresses. (Chapters 241–284, 492–497, 532, and 579)

Abilities and powers

Demonism draws on the Black King's darkness but possesses only the portion its current ego and vessel can support. Its demonstrated progression moves from an internal voice, to partial possession, to control of Yeon-woo's body, to an external Vigrid spirit, and finally to an attempted permanent synchronization with Kronos's true body. Destruction of one manifestation does not equal destruction of the Black King or of darkness itself. (Chapters 241–284, 396–403, 492–497, and 565–579)

Ego formation, memory, and recurrence

The Demonism attached to Yeon-woo begins as a vestige inside the Cast of the Black King and changes through Agares's magic power and the Stone of Sin. It inherits access to Black King darkness and knowledge outside Yeon-woo's conscious memory, yet maintains its own appetite and plans. The corpus therefore calls it another aspect of Yeon-woo without treating the two as one person: shared origin and vessel permit overlap, while separate thought, concealment, conflict, and attempted replacement establish distinct agency. Because Demonism is a cluster or portion of darkness rather than a stable biological being, destroying a manifested body does not necessarily destroy its ego. The Demonism displaced from Kronos survives by hiding among the abyss's collected fragments, establishing continuity rather than merely a similar replacement. Other Demonisms still arise from distinct executors and remain separate egos; Yeon-woo's later status as main ego supersedes and absorbs those fragments instead of retroactively making their earlier choices his own. Possession and synchronization

Demonism can leak traits through a host, address outside minds, or take progressively greater control. Full union with Yeon-woo leaves his consciousness aware but submerges it in a larger internal ocean; Demonism controls movement, impulses, and subconscious habits while drawing together the Dragon Heart, Philosopher's Stone, Factors, and Black King Cast. This grants overwhelming output and can restore powers in connected subordinates, but it overheats the host's soul and leaves Yeon-woo with divine fever, incomplete memory, and an immediate risk of eventual replacement. With Kronos, synchronization works through legends and a body Demonism had influenced over millennia. The ego uses that shared history to command the abandoned true body and tries to extinguish the returning owner. This method is strongest when a host relies on Demonism and lacks an active ego, but it is not irreversible: Kronos's rewound spring restores his authority, his own darkness contests the intruder's, and Yeon-woo's chains and Spirit Eating Sword force the separation. The ego survives that apparent destruction only by abandoning the body and hiding in the abyss. (Chapters 565–579 and 798)

Predation Emptiness and devouring

Predation Emptiness opens an abyss in Demonism's mouth or beneath a target and consumes matter, energy, attacks, space, and potentially the soul. It bites through areas of the Changgong Library, swallows Sword Thunder, and leaves actual emptiness where physical law had existed. Blackness can rapidly close wounds in its spirit body, and its limbs can unspool into piercing strands. Death-based poison and powers that erase rather than merely strike can impede that recovery, while divine-iron chains restrict movement and the flow of sustaining power. (Chapters 492–497 and 532)

Its most precise devouring feat is analytical rather than indiscriminate. Demonism separates the Crawling Chaos's surface ego from the accumulated holy power and achievements underneath, then consumes or retains only the consciousness it negotiated for. The source does not explain every mechanism of this division, but it demonstrates that Demonism can distinguish components of an existence instead of always swallowing the whole. Its stated reason—that complete consumption could make it sick—establishes capacity and compatibility as practical limits on appetite. (Chapter 532)

Darkness, external manifestation, and vessel limits

Demonism releases cloudy, adhesive darkness that can attack, regenerate its spirit form, fill a conscious world, or compete with another user's darkness for control. Through a compatible vessel it also accesses tremendous physical force, speed, chains, spatial tearing, and the abilities produced by combination with its host. Some apparent feats during possession belong to Yeon-woo's accumulated systems amplified by Demonism rather than to the ego alone, so the union's results should not be treated as its unrestricted personal arsenal. (Chapters 396–403, 492–497, 532, and 575–578)

External manifestation requires a vessel such as Vigrid and a continuous expenditure of energy. The sword lets Demonism fight without directly possessing Yeon-woo, but caps accessible magic and creates a shrinking window before the spirit form fades. A superior host such as Kronos offers far greater potential, yet only if synchronization can overcome the original ego. In its latest source-grounded state, the surviving ego is overpowered and absorbed when Yeon-woo combines the Demonisms; no separate recovery is shown afterward. (Chapters 492–497, 575–579, and 798)

• Yeon-woo: Demonism cultivates Yeon-woo as food and a vessel, repeatedly saving or empowering him to encourage dependence. Yeon-woo exploits those offers while resisting possession, then overpowers and absorbs it with the Black King's divided egos as the new main ego.
• Black King: The Black King is the source and totality from whose darkness Demonism arises. Demonism can represent part of the sleeping being's will, but it is not the entire Black King.
• Kronos: Demonism infects Kronos's mind and later attempts to take permanent control of his abandoned true body. Kronos's restored ego exposes the limits of synchronization and forces it to flee into hiding.
• Allforone: Demonism borrows Yeon-woo to oppose Allforone and later fights him in the Changgong Library, where all three participants remain mutually hostile.
• Crawling Chaos: Demonism helps defeat the Crawling Chaos, then bargains specifically for his separated ego rather than becoming or consuming the whole being.
• Agares: Agares's magic is one ingredient in the transformation of the Black King vestige that becomes Yeon-woo's Demonism; this origin does not make Demonism an alias or possession of Agares.
• Heavenly Demon: The Heavenly Demon recognizes Demonism as Black King remnants and can halt its clash with Yeon-woo and Allforone through superior authority inside the Changgong Library.
