Crawling Chaos

Crawling Chaos is an otherworld god whose search for the Black King draws it repeatedly toward the Tower. Exceptionally curious even among the beings of Night, it spends ages testing indirect routes through contracts, fragments of knowledge, and mortal researchers before confronting Yeon-woo itself. Its accumulated knowledge and vast thought-based power make it a dangerous investigator and manipulator, but its impatience with lesser lives ultimately lets Yeon-woo turn its own curiosity against it and consume its incarnation.

Biography

Searching the Tower through scholars and fallen species

Unable to penetrate the Tower's barriers directly without risking the Black King's traces, Crawling Chaos adopted a slower method: it answered beings inside who sought forbidden knowledge and used them to open small paths. Faust formed a contract with it and received enough information to develop an Emerald Tablet, although Boo's later memories describe the encounter only as false darkness imitating a deeper Darkness. The otherworld god's continued interference with those memories shows that contact produced knowledge without giving Faust an equal or transparent partnership. (Chapters 422, 435)

Kalatus made a separate contract because he wanted to resurrect Uballa. Crawling Chaos supplied knowledge that led the dragon toward holiness and transcendence, but Kalatus failed against Allforone, lost his species in the resulting war, and surrendered his soul under the agreement. The god then contaminated Kalatus' remains and pressed through Laputa as a gateway. Its tentacles and self-organizing holy power are direct manifestations, while the dragon's decisions and the Second Dragon Massacre remain consequences of Kalatus' bargain rather than actions Crawling Chaos personally performs on the page. Turning Bayluk's research into a route inward

Bayluk reaches Crawling Chaos only after cooperating with Vieira Dune, helping her become Mother Earth in exchange for access to knowledge beyond the Tower. Crawling Chaos gives him Gray Fragments, magic cores, and sections of its accumulated research, which Bayluk combines with Elohim resources to construct Jeong-woo homunculi and artificial bodies for ancient species. Those results demonstrate the utility of the god's materials, but Bayluk remains their designer and operator; Crawling Chaos enables the program rather than personally inventing every poison, clone, or ritual attributed to its contractor. The arrangement nevertheless serves Crawling Chaos' own objective. Its fragments extend through Bayluk as regenerative tentacles, and the sacrifices prepared by Bayluk and Mother Earth create an opening while Allforone is occupied elsewhere. Bayluk expects the god to acknowledge him and pass on a legend after he completes a Divine Human, but that reward is only his expectation. What occurs is harsher: Yeon-woo cracks Bayluk's magic core, drains the connected holy power, and leaves the contractor unable to control the supposedly immortal body he had treated as an ascent. A bargain over the Black King's traces

Crawling Chaos' first sustained direct exchange with Yeon-woo occurs inside a world formed by its thoughts. It recognizes the abyss as the Black King's domain and reacts with fury when a mortal claims to be his successor, but Yeon-woo's promise of a route into the Tower turns that fury back into curiosity. The god condenses a manifestation resembling Valdebich so their minds can communicate, confirming that it and other beings of Night have searched unsuccessfully for the Black King while avoiding an invasion that might destroy the evidence they want. (Chapters 453–454)

Yeon-woo asks for the complete revelations in return, hoping to restore Boo, understand darkness, and create a vessel for Jeong-woo. Crawling Chaos admits that it does not own or control that total record; it has only repeated small sections to Faust and Bayluk. Instead, it offers to make Yeon-woo an Apostle and promises future immortality, invincibility, and a throne after he opens a path. Those benefits are proposed terms, not demonstrated grants. When Yeon-woo refuses, the god seals his Channels and system-supported powers, but Yeon-woo's self-cultivated martial consciousness breaks the illusory control and ends the negotiation. Curiosity becomes incarnation and defeat

Rather than withdraw after the failed bargain, Crawling Chaos pursues Yeon-woo with tentacles and darkness that ignore the safety of Mother Earth, the Giants, and their shared battlefield. Yeon-woo releases emptiness and lets the pursuit crash into it, forcing the otherworld god to struggle through an environment that erases even transcendent existence. The encounter destroys the Elohim's Outer Space and turns allies into collateral damage, establishing the consequence of Crawling Chaos' central weakness: once fascinated or angered, it treats its own arrangements as expendable. (Chapters 454–456)

Crawling Chaos later brings a fuller incarnation outside the Tower, adopting a human body built from its analysis of Yeon-woo and pursuing the abyss in his unconscious. Its vestiges adapt to attacks and reproduce techniques they observe, but Yeon-woo does not face it alone: Valdebich rejects the one-sided terms imposed on the half-Giants, the Monkey King's exuviae guides Yeon-woo into the god's unconscious, and the Demonism seizes its core while Kalatus and the Great Warrior attack. Yeon-woo digests the captured holy power, ending the incarnation as an independent opponent and turning its researcher's appetite back upon it. (Chapters 499–540)

A surviving vestige changes what it serves

Consumption does not erase every trace of Crawling Chaos' consciousness. A vestige remains inside Yeon-woo and observes through his senses, initially preserving the arrogance and appetite of Night. Once it concludes that Yeon-woo is the viable route to the being it calls Father, it abandons its former side and proposes that they search together. This is an alliance of purpose rather than repentance: the vestige still laughs at collapsing divine societies and urges Yeon-woo toward the sleeping Black King because discovery, not concern for those worlds, remains its priority. The later Night quest treats Crawling Chaos as absent because Yeon-woo devoured it, yet its prior acknowledgment of him as the Black King's ego and the Dull-Witted Father still satisfies one part of his credentials. Another God of Disorder explains that Crawling Chaos knew more about Day than its peers but habitually acted on impulse and curiosity, which is why it was consumed. That describes the pre-rewind history, not the final state: at the wedding-era gathering after the rewind, all Eight Gods of Disorder reveal themselves, and the narration contrasts their collective arrival with the earlier appearance of Crawling Chaos alone. The scene establishes its renewed presence as part of the Eight but does not explain whether this is a restored incarnation, a reconstituted vestige, or a continuity produced by the rewritten history. Appearance and personality

Crawling Chaos has no single stable humanoid appearance. Its distant presence is perceived as ashen fog, enormous darkness, and black tentacles pressing through dimensions; a fuller incarnation is planet-sized, while looking at even a portion can induce vertigo or mental collapse in an unprepared mortal. When conversation requires a smaller shape, it constructs manifestations from analyzed information: one resembles Valdebich, and another resembles Yeon-woo while reproducing subtle traits closer to Jeong-woo. These forms are interfaces or incarnation bodies, not proof that either person is possessed. (Chapters 421–422, 453–454, 499–540)

It is inquisitive, arrogant, impulsive, and easily bored. Crawling Chaos regards mortals as microbes, contracts with declining species partly for amusement, and can spend ages on research because time has little urgency for it. Its curiosity is genuine enough to interrupt rage and entertain negotiation, but it rarely respects consent or collateral damage. The same temperament permits adaptation: after defeat, its vestige can change allegiance when Yeon-woo offers a more promising path to Father, without becoming benevolent or losing its delight in disorder. Abilities and powers

Crawling Chaos is an otherworld god whose power is expressed through consciousness, holy power, manifestations, and contracts rather than a single Tower class or Channel. Its strongest demonstrated states occur in a thought-made territory and in space outside the Tower. The Tower's barriers, Allforone, and the risk of disturbing the Black King's traces prevent it from applying that scale freely inside the floors, which is why much of its long influence is mediated through contractors and fragments. Otherworld existence, scale, and dimensional reach

The Draconic species describes otherworld gods as beings whose forms may span multiple dimensions or be too large to measure. Crawling Chaos is among the most active of them. A partial approach to Laputa rivals the pressure Yeon-woo associates with Mother Earth, while a later incarnation is comparable to a planet. It can extend tentacles through weakened gateways, project thoughts across boundaries, and survive in regions without the Tower's air, gravity, or system support. Its manifestations let a fraction of that existence act where the complete body cannot safely enter. (Chapters 421–425, 453–455, 499–540)

Size does not equal unrestricted access. The Tower rejects its external power, Allforone can intervene once an intrusion leaves protected territory, and the god avoids a coordinated invasion because releasing the Tower's imprisoned powers could erase the Black King's traces. The Heavenly Demon is assessed as standing above beings of its scale, and the Monkey King's exuviae can seal it through an Illusory World. Crawling Chaos therefore possesses cosmic reach but repeatedly needs a gateway, contract, sacrifice, or target outside the Tower's ordinary protections. (Chapters 422–425, 489–490, 615)

Contracts, holy power, and proxy materials

Crawling Chaos makes asymmetric contracts that exchange knowledge or power for access, service, and sometimes the contractor's existence. Kalatus receives resurrection research but ultimately loses his soul; Faust receives knowledge for an Emerald Tablet while parts of the contact remain locked from Boo's memory; Bayluk receives Gray Fragments, magic cores, and holy power that support his homunculi. Valdebich also describes accepting one-sided terms to protect the half-Giants. The specific price and benefit vary, so one contract's mechanics should not automatically be assigned to another. Its holy power behaves like a living contaminant. Residue in Laputa forms independent vestiges, sprouts mouths and tentacles, and survives ordinary purification attempts until Brahm's magic and Yeon-woo's absorption dismantle it. In Bayluk, the power regenerates severed tentacles and repairs injuries through a magic core, but the core is also an imperfection: when Yeon-woo cracks it and drains the connection, control and regeneration fail. Contractors therefore gain formidable resilience without receiving an invulnerable copy of the god. (Chapters 433–434, 443–452)

Accumulated knowledge and the revelations

Among the Eight Gods of Disorder, Crawling Chaos has accumulated exceptional knowledge and understands more about Day than its peers. It can communicate sections of the revelations—records covering the universe's beginning, end, space, time, and history—and those fragments underpin Faust's and Bayluk's different Emerald Tablets. Combined by Yeon-woo and Brahm, the portions open further research into souls, artificial bodies, and magic-power organs, demonstrating that even incomplete information has practical value. (Chapters 435, 454, 459, 491, 746)

This knowledge is extensive rather than ownership of omniscience. Crawling Chaos explicitly says the complete revelations are not its property and that it lacks authority to hand them over. Its predictions and experiments also produce failures: Kalatus cannot overcome Allforone, mortal proxies repeatedly collapse, and Yeon-woo refuses the contract meant to secure a path. Claims that it can grant invincibility, immortality, or a future throne remain untested because the proposed Apostleship is never accepted. (Chapters 424–425, 454)

Thought manifestation and illusory control

Inside the world of its unconscious or an Illusory World generated by its thoughts, Crawling Chaos can pause the experienced flow of time, read exposed thoughts, twist local laws, and apply External Interference Elimination. That control severs divine Channels, shuts down Tower skills and powers, and reduces Yeon-woo to abilities he has made internal rather than those administered by the system. It can also select a familiar appearance from a target's memories to make communication intelligible. (Chapters 453–454)

The control is territorial, not universal cancellation. Yeon-woo blocks direct mind reading with a mental barrier and uses martial consciousness cultivated outside the system to distort the imposed rules and escape. When Yeon-woo later enters Crawling Chaos' unconscious deliberately, the god has the home advantage, but adaptive vestiges can still be burned, bound, or consumed. Its own mind can therefore function as a weapon and fortress while also giving an intruder a route to its core. (Chapters 454, 499–540)

Darkness, tentacles, and adaptive vestiges

Crawling Chaos attacks through enormous tentacles, waves of darkness, and concentrated thoughts strong enough to shake a lesser soul. Severed holy power can produce autonomous monsters, while vestiges inside its unconscious observe an attack, adapt, and reproduce an analogous form such as Sword Thunder. A manifestation fashioned from Yeon-woo's information can imitate his appearance and combat patterns. These effects show analysis and reproduction; they do not establish that the god permanently masters every copied technique or inherits the original user's complete legends. Its strongest attacks are checked by forces tied to the Black King. Emptiness erodes its darkness and overwhelms tentacles, the Demonism can seize and bind its concentrated core, and Yeon-woo can refine its holy power through Hades' Spirit Eating Sword and the Atman System. Valdebich's surprise attack and allied pressure further prevent the incarnation from controlling the engagement. Before the rewind, only an intelligent vestige remains directly active within Yeon-woo. The later collective appearance of all Eight Gods of Disorder establishes Crawling Chaos' renewed presence but demonstrates no individual ability, incarnation mechanism, or new limit for it. • Yeon-woo: Crawling Chaos first sees Yeon-woo as an anomalous microbe carrying the Black King's power, then as a possible Apostle and gateway. Yeon-woo rejects its terms, defeats and consumes its incarnation, and later carries the vestige that chooses to help him find Father.
• Black King: The Black King is the Father whose traces Crawling Chaos and the other beings of Night seek. Reverence for him drives the god's contracts, interest in the Tower, fury at Yeon-woo's claim, and eventual acknowledgment of Yeon-woo.
• Boo: In his former life as Faust, Boo contracted with Crawling Chaos and received knowledge used to create an Emerald Tablet. Their contact remains partly inaccessible after Faust's reincarnation, and recovering that history becomes one reason Yeon-woo investigates the god.
• Bayluk: Bayluk is Crawling Chaos' principal mortal researcher and proxy. The god supplies knowledge, fragments, and a magic core, while Bayluk turns those resources into homunculi and vessels; his expected reward never arrives before Yeon-woo captures him.
