Fesh Wui

Fesh Wui is an eagler scion who uses flight and the Dao of Wind to control the battlefield. His tournament rivalry with Earth’s fighters becomes open hostility when he backs the Animal Kingdom’s attempt to punish Jack Rust.

Biography

The tournament and war for Earth

Fesh Wui enters the Integration Tournament as the only participant able to fly. At the auction he bids for a valuable lot, then uses his advantage in the air to attack Vanderdecken from above. He defeats the musician by breaking his guitar and cutting his chest, but Dorman later beats him in a fast exchange that costs Fesh Wui a wing. He is distressed by the injury, and the healers restore it before he returns to the stands (Chapters 73, 77, 84).

After Jack refuses to resign, Fesh Wui speaks for the scions and urges the planetary overseer to lift the rule against violence so they can punish Jack. Once the fight begins, he attacks Jack with wind blades and offers a bounty for his head. When the battle turns against the scions, Fesh Wui calls for retreat and uses an escape talisman to get away while Dorman and Li Xiang pursue him. Later, during the war for Earth, he fights Gan Salin with storms of wind feathers, constricting gales, and hurricanes, continuing the scions’ conflict with their former ally (Chapters 101–103, 307, 309, 312).

Appearance and personality

Fesh Wui is an eagler, a half-eagle, half-human being with large wings and sharp talons. He can fly and often caws while fighting. He is proud of his status and treats Jack’s refusal to resign as an insult to the scions’ honor; in combat he is aggressive and willing to pursue an enemy until the battle turns against him (Chapters 77, 84, 101–102).

Abilities and cultivation

Fesh Wui’s Dao of Wind combines aerial mobility with ranged pressure and close attacks. Flight lets him choose when to engage, while his wings produce gales and storms that can disrupt an opponent’s movement and attack from multiple directions. His talons give him a direct melee option, and he can form condensed blades of wind from his legs. He is dangerous against opponents who cannot reach him, but Dorman’s speed and Jack’s strength let them counter his aerial advantage (Chapters 77, 84, 102, 312).
