Old Man Jimo — Renegade Immortal

Old Man Jimo is an independent Zhao cultivator who specializes in refining ancient corpses into puppets. His attempt to avenge a murdered disciple indirectly sets Teng Li against Wang Lin, making him one of the people Wang Lin later holds responsible for the destruction of his family.

Biography

A disciple's death and a chain of retaliation

Jimo implants a secret control technique in his disciples. When his fifth disciple is killed after trying to murder Zhang Hu, the technique lets Jimo witness the death and calculate where Zhang Hu will travel. He sends his eldest disciple Chen Zhong to find Zhang Hu and Wang Lin. Because Chen Zhong is distant, he asks his friend Teng Li to act in his place. Teng Li begins the pursuit as a favor, then becomes personally determined to kill Wang Lin after seeing the treasure that enables his escape. Thus Jimo does not strike Wang Lin directly, but his surveillance and command initiate the encounter that entangles Wang Lin with the Teng family. (Chapters 77–82)

Named among Wang Lin's enemies

After Wang Lin kills Teng Li, Teng Huayuan exterminates Wang Lin's clan and attacks him at Jue Ming Valley. Teng Huayuan acknowledges that Jimo sent Teng Li and promises to kill Jimo and his disciples after disposing of Wang Lin. Wang Lin survives, but over four centuries he comes to see Jimo's retaliation as one link in the catastrophe caused by his early mercy toward mortal witnesses. When he prepares to return to Zhao, Jimo stands beside Teng Huayuan and the other people on his kill list. (Chapters 117, 203, and 206)

The meeting outside the He Huan Sect

Wang Lin finally meets Jimo in person while slaughtering Teng family members across Zhao. Jimo arrives in a colorful carriage announced by young attendants as “Immortal Ji Mo.” He initially treats Wang Lin as an equal early Nascent Soul cultivator, but the train of Teng corpses makes him immediately cautious. He praises their deaths and tries to retreat, then feigns indifference when Wang Lin reveals that he killed Jimo's disciple four hundred years earlier. The four puppets emerging from his bag show that his apparent surrender is only an attempt to gain time. (Chapters 236–237)

Failed transformation and death

Jimo sends four near-Nascent Soul corpse puppets forward and flees, but Wang Lin restrains them and follows. Cornered, Jimo absorbs the fat covering his body, revealing a handsome, powerful middle-aged true form and temporarily raising his aura from early Nascent Soul to the peak of the middle stage. He boasts that Wang Lin is the first to see this form and pretends to offer him a century to become worthy, only to resume escaping as soon as his performance creates distance. Wang Lin's Ji Realm lightning kills him instantly. Wang Lin takes his bag, finds the puppet-refining jade, and converts the four inactive corpses for his own use. Two of those puppets are later destroyed while fighting Teng One. (Chapters 237 and 243)

A consequence remembered centuries later

Jimo's personal story ends at his death, but Wang Lin continues to remember the causal chain around him. During a later replay of Wang Lin's life, the killing of Jimo's disciple and the warning that the victim belonged to “old man Ji Mo” appear among the early soul fragments that shaped his path. This final reference is memory, not evidence that Jimo survived Chapter 237. (Chapters 271 and 915)

Appearance and personality

Jimo first appears as an enormous mass of fat reclining on a lavish bed inside his carriage, with an oily face and attendants announcing his passage. The fat is part of a transformation: when absorbed, it reveals a handsome, strong middle-aged man with thick brows, large eyes, and a much more powerful aura. His conduct is theatrical and cowardly. He projects the dignity of an unrivaled immortal, instantly flatters Wang Lin when danger becomes clear, abandons his attendants, and disguises another escape attempt as a magnanimous challenge. His caution is real, but pride keeps turning it into bluster. (Chapters 236–237)

Abilities and cultivation

Nascent Soul cultivation and concealed true form

Jimo normally displays early Nascent Soul cultivation and can teleport. By drawing the accumulated fat into his body, he changes into his true form and forces his aura to the peak of the middle Nascent Soul stage, one step below late stage. The scene presents this as a secret method and temporary battle state; it does not establish that his ordinary cultivation permanently advances. (Chapter 237)

Jimo's dark cultivation method specializes in finding zombies and ancient cultivator remains, refining them, and controlling the resulting puppets. Four mummified corpses travel in black smoke within his bag of holding, each possessing strength close to early Nascent Soul. Drops of his blood awaken their red eyes and issue an attack command. Their dependence on him is also a weakness: they stop the moment he dies, allowing Wang Lin to rebind them with the method recorded in Jimo's jade. (Chapters 237 and 243)

Disciple control and tracking

Jimo places a hidden technique within his disciples that supplements more obvious coercion. When a disciple dies, he can perceive the circumstances through the mark and calculate the fugitive's likely location. This remote observation is what lets him identify Zhang Hu's route and dispatch Chen Zhong, but the source does not show it functioning as direct control over a living disciple in combat. Relationships

Wang Lin: Jimo's order begins the pursuit that brings Wang Lin into conflict with Teng Li. Four centuries later, Wang Lin confronts and kills him, then inherits his puppets and refinement method. (Chapters 82, 203–206, and 237)
Zhang Hu: Zhang Hu helps kill Jimo's fifth disciple, making him the original target of Jimo's tracking and retaliation. (Chapter 82)
Teng Li: Teng Li acts after Jimo's eldest disciple asks for help. His choice to continue the chase for Wang Lin's treasure turns that favor into a fatal personal conflict. (Chapters 81–82)
Teng Huayuan: Teng Huayuan knows Jimo caused Teng Li's pursuit and threatens to destroy him after killing Wang Lin, though Wang Lin reaches Jimo first. (Chapter 117)
