Recruiting Wang Lin

Mo Lihai is a demon general of Sky Demon City seeking promotion through the general competition. He receives Wang Lin into the Mo Mansion and quickly decides that the foreign cultivator can transform his prospects. He hides Wang Lin from the Emperor's sword by opening his private seclusion chamber and spreading demonic spiritual energy over the area all night. He then introduces Wang Lin to a politically connected vice commander-in-chief, honestly assessing his own chance of promotion at forty percent alone and ninety percent with this helper. Wang Lin's demonstration shocks both patron and general, validating Mo Lihai's gamble. (Chapters 565–576)

Challenge and preparation

The alliance is tested when Mo Fei sends a public challenge and a Da Lou Sword Sect envoy breaks into the mansion. Wang Lin destroys the envoy's sword art, sparing Mo Lihai a confrontation and revealing growth beyond what the general expected.
