Biography

A leading contender

Before the demon-general contest begins, Mo Lihai identifies Shi Xiao and his helper Chen Tao as principal threats. Shi Xiao is already famous for heavenly cultivation and the unpredictable Six Finger Demon Sword, and observers consider him a likely candidate for first place. A prisoner surnamed Xu, confined in Hong Prison, carries a separate grudge against him and asks Wang Lin to kill Shi Xiao in exchange for guidance on the path of slaughter. The demon-general contest

Shi Xiao's opening battles justify his reputation. He recognizes the life-and-death demonic energy in Mu Yun's domain and breaks its five green strands with a sequence of finger strikes followed by a palm attack. Against the giant-spirit cultivator Tian Lui, he anchors himself against the opponent's restraining mist, compresses demonic spiritual energy around his fingers, and drives the resulting attack through the technique and Tian Lui's forehead. After Tian Lui's body explodes, five thin threads return to Shi Xiao. He then challenges Mo Lihai, still nursing the humiliation of the scar Mo Lihai gave him three centuries earlier. (Chapter 582)

Wang Lin's successive victories destabilize Shi Xiao's confidence. Appointment and death

By the time Wang Lin returns, Shi Xiao is about to become vice commander-in-chief. He claims the office should have been his a century earlier and blames both Mo Lihai and Wang Lin for delaying his rise. He attacks rather than abandon that resentment. Wang Lin, also honoring his promise to the prisoner in Hong Prison, releases the shadow of a celestial guard at the Yin and Yang stage; it crosses Shi Xiao and instantly destroys his life. Appearance and personality

Shi Xiao has a demonic appearance and bears a facial scar inflicted by Mo Lihai, which he treats as his greatest humiliation. He is formidable and perceptive in battle, but also proud, status-conscious, and unable to accept rivals whose growth threatens his place. His hostility toward Wang Lin deepens from suspicion into open killing intent, while the promised vice-commandership magnifies his belief that recognition has been unfairly withheld from him.
