Seagull
History
Seagull is Neverwinter's first full-size enclosed glider and the first aircraft designed specifically to carry a witch team over the five-hundred-mile route between the city and the Fertile Plains. Roland Wimbledon prioritizes safety because the machine is unique and may carry a large part of the Witch Union at once. Anna manufactures its light alloy and steel structure, coated skin, sealed cabin, and armored underside. (Chapter 1070)
Tilly Wimbledon pilots the aircraft while Wendy supplies the airflow that launches, propels, and stabilizes it. Their early tests include simulated emergency landings. The result can carry up to twenty people, or roughly one thousand kilograms of cargo after its passenger seats are removed, and can make multiple long-distance trips in a day. Seagull consequently becomes a transport and rescue platform for witches stationed near Taquila. (Chapters 1070–1072 and 1105)
The General Staff later turns the aircraft's speed and altitude into an ambush method against the Magic Slayer. Seagull hides in cloud cover and dives to release God's Punishment Witches near the target. The operation becomes a demon trap, forcing Tilly to withdraw for reinforcements while Lightning relays messages between the aircraft and fighters below. The glider survives and remains at the front after the failed ambush. (Chapters 1138–1139, 1152, 1161–1167, and 1193)
Properties and use
The aircraft has a high-strength metal frame, integrated structural parts, a sealed coated skin, portholes, seats, an aft door, and bottom armor for forced landings. Control levers move its flight surfaces, but the design is materially assisted by Wendy's magic. Her wind can lift the aircraft almost vertically, keep it aloft without ordinary engine thrust, and vary its speed; Tilly supplies piloting judgment and precise control. (Chapters 1070–1071)
At a nominal two hundred miles per hour, Seagull can complete two round trips to the front in one day. A dive can raise its speed above five hundred miles per hour, permitting rapid insertion against a fast ground target. Those capabilities depend on the crew: without Wendy's airflow and a trained pilot, it is a glider with limited launch options. It is also a single, irreplaceable airframe during the supplied period, so mechanical failure, hostile flyers, weather, and concentrated passenger risk constrain every mission. (Chapters 1070, 1071, and 1139)
