Charming Beauty

History

The Charming Beauty is one of the few Fjords ships willing to carry witches openly. Its captain, One-eyed Jack, transports Ashes and other members of Sleeping Island's community even though many sailors remain wary of them. The ship's arrival at the magically reshaped island establishes a practical supply and travel link between Tilly's refuge, Crescent Moon Bay, and the mainland. (Chapter 203)

The vessel later carries Tilly Wimbledon and her party to the Western Region. Its draft prevents it from approaching an unknown rocky shore directly, so the witches transfer by landing boat while the captain waits offshore for their return. On other voyages, the Charming Beauty survives demonic-beast attacks with help from its passengers, brings Bloodfang Association witches toward Neverwinter, and continues shuttling people during the migration away from Sleeping Island. Properties and use

The Charming Beauty is a conventional ocean-going sailing ship rather than a magical artifact. Its importance comes from capacity, experienced crew, and a captain willing to maintain routes other vessels avoid. It can carry groups of witches, passengers, and cargo over the open sea, but remains dependent on wind, tides, safe anchorage, and protection from monsters. Molly's summoned servant and the combat witches prevent one attack from breaking its hull, showing that the ship itself is not supernaturally durable. (Chapters 203 and 325)

The vessel provides the stable maritime logistics behind Sleeping Island's alliances. Maggie can scout ahead in bird form, and Tilly can use a flight stone, but neither replaces the ship's ability to move a whole party and its supplies. The combination of ordinary seamanship and witch reconnaissance makes voyages safer while preserving clear limits imposed by coastlines and weather. (Chapters 255, 324–326, and 530)
