Mystery Moon
Mystery Moon is a Witch Union member whose initially undervalued magnetism becomes a practical source of electricity for Neverwinter. (Chapter 98)
Biography
Training an ability others dismissed
Mystery Moon enters Roland's office so nervous that Nightingale must comfort her, carrying the experience of an attaching ability treated as nearly useless by the Witch Cooperation Association. She nevertheless wants to contribute and chooses study and repetitive magnetization practice. That effort, rather than a sudden change of fortune, gives her enough understanding of magnetic change to evolve the power into an electrical effect. (Chapters 98, 141, 220, and 406)
From factory power to a reckless drive
Her enchanted copper assemblies supply limited electricity for factories, and cooperation with Broken Sword extends their working time from days to roughly two weeks. Mystery Moon's enthusiasm outpaces that capacity when she imagines a magnet-driven car and takes the wheel of a new vehicle; weak control contributes to a chaotic crash. The episode leaves her useful innovation intact while plainly exposing the gap between generating some power and safely controlling a complete machine. (Chapters 840, 945, and 1211–1212)
Appearance and personality
No stable detailed physical portrait is supplied. Mystery Moon is anxious when judged but eager for recognition, serious about lessons, mischievous with friends, and prone to boasting when a technical idea excites her. (Chapters 98, 141, 664, and 1211)
Magic and abilities
By touching a target, Mystery Moon can attach magnetic properties to it; the original process is slow, magic-intensive, and interruptible by a God's Stone. After evolution she can impose changing magnetic force on conductive assemblies and thereby generate electricity. The charge dissipates, only a limited number of rods can be sustained, and even Broken Sword's support does not make the supply large or permanent. (Chapters 98, 406, 840, and 945)
Power progression
| Stage / Realm / Ability | Chapter(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Touch-based magnetization | 98, 141–220 | Begins with slow, magic-intensive attachment of magnetic properties to a touched object. |
| Changing magnetic force / electricity evolution | 406, 840 | Repetitive practice and understanding evolve the ability into changing magnetic force capable of generating a limited electrical supply. |
Relationships
Lily is Mystery Moon's frequent roommate, critic, and comic counterweight. Broken Sword extends the useful duration of her enchanted equipment, while Roland Wimbledon's lessons and factory needs give her a reason to develop an ability others had dismissed. (Chapters 141, 220, 840, and 958)
