Shannon

Shannon is Aamon's daughter, a fox-eared psychic artist, and the bearer of the eighth Sin, Despond. Her unsuppressed Divinity drives almost anyone who sees her toward suicide, forcing her to live secluded at Hestia Academy and wear an energy-hungry fox mask. Her paintings reveal distant present events and the colors of fate, making her a valuable source of intelligence even though the destructive reach of her Sin often keeps her away from allied battle lines.

Biography

Leaving the shrine to shape William's future

Aamon makes helping Shannon the last trial William must complete to lift his friends' curses. William's first exposure to her face and voice overwhelms his reason, confirming why she has spent years guarded inside an academy shrine. Through repeated visits he earns her trust and learns to approach the lonely young woman as a person rather than a hazard. Shannon later leaves the academy, supports William with paintings and intelligence unavailable to his spies, and uses psychic perception to recognize Aila's future importance. Because her mask needs regular replenishment and her Divinity risks killing allies, she sometimes remains in the Thousand Beast Domain while others fight. She nevertheless continues assisting William, cares for Erinys, and finally channels Despond with the other Sins during the War of Destruction. (Chapters 710–750, 873–1015, 1126–1146, 1246, 1325–1350, 1461)

Appearance and personality

Shannon is a young woman with long, silky white hair, purple eyes, and fluffy fox-like ears. She normally covers her face with a fox mask. A second form changes her hair to black and shifts her specialty from magical attacks to physical combat, though the corpus does not provide a complete alternate System profile. (Chapters 734–735, 1146)

Isolation makes Shannon lonely and hungry for ordinary affection, but she is observant, patient, playful, and capable of withholding what she wants until the moment she judges right. She teases William and follows his life with the enthusiasm of a devoted spectator, while also protecting allies from her own power and exhausting herself to paint information that may help them. (Chapters 735, 873, 940–1015, 1133–1146)

Skills, classes, and divinities

  • Despond: Shannon is the last of the Eight Deadly Sins. Exposure to her unsuppressed presence can compel viewers to kill themselves, making the ability indiscriminate enough to threaten allies and requiring constant suppression. The text does not establish precise range, duration, or immunity rules beyond demonstrated resistance by exceptional individuals such as William. (Chapters 710–735, 1146, 1246, 1461)
  • Psychic perception: Shannon receives images of distant events occurring in the present and can perceive a person's fate as colored qualities around the aura. This lets her identify likely roles and hidden influences, but it is not Elliot's direct clairvoyance: the scenes can be random and her senses predict the flow of fate rather than displaying a fixed future. (Chapters 873, 940, 1133)
  • Painting and ink manifestation: She records visions on canvases, creates functional chairs from ink, and stores completed works in a small personal space accessed through a purple portal. Painting can drain her severely, so neither her visions nor constructs should be treated as effortless or unlimited. (Chapters 735, 873, 940, 1146)
  • Alternate battle form: Shannon can change her appearance and switch from a magical specialty to a physical one. This provides another mode of combat, but William still withholds her from crowded battles when Despond's friendly-fire risk outweighs its benefit. (Chapters 940–1013, 1146, 1246)

Relationships

  • William: William is initially tasked with solving Shannon's isolation and becomes the rare visitor capable of enduring her Divinity. He recharges her mask, trusts her intelligence, and brings her into his household; Shannon admires him, supports his future, and ultimately fights as one of his Sinful allies. (Chapters 710–750, 940–1015, 1133–1146, 1461)
  • Aamon: Aamon is Shannon's father and quietly arranges William's intervention because he wants her problem solved. He later cares for her after psychic painting exhausts her. (Chapters 710, 873, 1015)
  • Aila: Shannon sees Aila's life-filled aura and recognizes that she is safeguarding something crucial to William. Their similar non-frontline position makes Aila a natural confidante and ally inside the Thousand Beast Domain. (Chapters 1047–1057, 1126–1133, 1246)
  • Erinys: Shannon accompanies and looks after Erinys during the Grand Alliance period, including carrying the dazed Ferryman back to William. (Chapters 1325–1350)

Items

  • Fox Mask: The mask suppresses Shannon's lethal Divinity. Its stored energy fades and must be replenished regularly; even drawing nearly half of William's strength charges only a fraction of it, enough for about a week. Removing it risks exposing everyone nearby. (Chapters 1144–1146)
  • Brushes and canvases: Shannon uses ordinary-looking artistic tools to record psychic scenes. The completed paintings form a personal archive of intelligence, but producing them can leave her unable to continue and in need of rest. (Chapters 735, 873, 940)
