Pauld

Pauld is a great magician from Braham's era who returns centuries after death as a complete lich under Agnus. Though never a legend and explicitly inferior to Braham, he remains a valuable undead magician. Faker's Shadow Group targets him, and Agnus ultimately destroys Pauld himself during the confrontation. Biography

Role in Apostles, Dragons, and the Overgeared World

Pauld is first named by a servant who has spent thirty-one years bound to him and demands release. The appeal presents Pauld through the burden his service imposes on another person rather than through a heroic reputation. The supplied scene does not document Pauld granting that freedom. (Chapter 1218)

His background becomes clearer after resurrection. Pauld was a magician active in Braham's age and achieved enough to be called great, but his skill and accomplishments remained below the threshold of legend when compared with Braham. Centuries later he consumes Kunlun Ginseng and becomes a complete lich, with Agnus as his master. The childlike body therefore represents undead rebirth rather than natural youth. (Chapters 1398 and 1428)

The Shadow Group later attacks a mansion with Pauld as its mission target. Because player-owned undead normally cannot be permanently destroyed by an outsider, Faker's stated plan appears technically doubtful, yet the assault pressures both master and lich. Agnus spends dwindling resources defending Pauld from Faker and the God Hands. (Chapters 1444–1447)

The confrontation ends unexpectedly when Agnus kills Pauld himself, bypassing the ownership protection that complicated Faker's mission. The bounded evidence establishes the act but does not support inventing a private final motive or speech for Pauld. His latest status is destruction at his master's hands. (Chapter 1448)

Appearance and personality

After becoming a complete lich, Pauld appears as a blunt-speaking boy. This youthful body is the result of resurrection through Kunlun Ginseng, not his original living appearance. Little additional personality evidence is supplied beyond bluntness and the long coercive service associated with him. (Chapters 1218 and 1398)

Abilities, classes, and skills

Pauld is a great magician and complete lich. His undead state makes ordinary permanent destruction difficult because he belongs to a player account, while his value is high enough that Agnus exhausts resources protecting him. No named spells or exact magical mechanics are isolated in the evidence. (Chapters 1398 and 1444–1447)

He never reached legendary status and is explicitly below Braham in skill and achievement. Ownership protection also has a decisive exception: Agnus, his master, can destroy him directly. (Chapters 1398, 1445, and 1448)

Relationships

Agnus is Pauld's master after resurrection. He protects the lich through most of the Shadow Group battle, then personally ends Pauld's existence in an unexpected reversal. (Chapters 1398 and 1444–1448)

Braham is Pauld's historical benchmark. Pauld earns recognition as a great magician but fails to become a legend because every relevant comparison favors Braham. (Chapter 1398)

Faker leads the mission to destroy Pauld and creates the pressure under which Agnus makes the final decision. Faker targets a normally protected player-owned undead rather than treating the lich as an ordinary kill. (Chapters 1444–1448)
