Asmodeus

Asmodeus, the Demon King of Lust and Wrath, is a high-ranking demon who converts fear, bodies, and narrative ownership into leverage. His intermittent cooperation with Kim Dokja never represents trust: each bargain is an effort to acquire a Story, vessel, modifier, or place near the end.

Biography

A curse that becomes a family

Asmodeus first notices Han Myungoh after Han steals the final blow against a Dark Keeper. The Demon King marks the killer for pursuit and lays a curse that spends Probability to realize the target's idea of the most terrible possible outcome. Combined with the Dark Keeper's parasitic infection, that curse causes Han to become pregnant and give birth in the Demon Realm. The punishment is not merely grotesque retaliation. It creates Han Dareum, a child Asmodeus can designate as an incarnation body, and turns Han into a demon noble whose household connection can be used for surveillance and command. (Chapters 23 and 204–206)

Han's response produces a consequence Asmodeus does not value correctly. Terrified at first, Han prays for the child's survival and comes to regard her as everything he has gained in the ruined world. Asmodeus promises to return Dareum if Han helps create a desired Story around the Syswitz revolution, making parental love another form of collateral. Kim can temporarily sever the connection through which Asmodeus watches Han, and Han then aids the revolution rather than serving the duke obediently. The curse succeeds in creating a vessel, but it also creates the chosen family bond that motivates Han's eventual defiance. (Chapters 204–206)

The bargain for a giant story

Asmodeus later manifests through Dareum and approaches Kim during the industrial-complex conflict. Even a partial descent carries Status capable of pressing transcendents and catching Yoo Joonghyuk's sword, while the use of a child's body makes direct retaliation morally costly. The Demon King offers to help Kim become ruler of the 73rd Demon Realm in exchange for half of the future Giant Story. Fifty-percent ownership would do more than provide prestige: Kim could not freely draw on the Story without the co-owner's permission, giving Asmodeus a durable veto over a promising new Demon King. (Chapters 224–225)

Kim turns the demand into a competitive offering open to multiple constellations. Once other powerful observers expect a chance at the thirty-percent share, Asmodeus cannot attack him without spending enough Probability to challenge every interested claimant. The Demon King recognizes the maneuver, withdraws the immediate force, and warns that Kim has thrown away an opportunity. The result defines their future relationship. Each recognizes the other's value and intelligence, but every appearance of aid is structured as an attempt to control terms before the other party can rewrite them. (Chapter 225)

A Seeker of the End

Asmodeus later enters the modifier-hunting scenario as a candidate for future Great Demon King and one of the Seekers of the End. Kim lures him into a hunt for the corrupted archangel Michael by circulating a false revelation. Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint reveals that Asmodeus understands the proposed hunt is a trap and correctly identifies Kim's plan to use him, yet he joins after preparing his own route to profit. Michael nearly destroys Dareum's adolescent incarnation body, severing an arm and leg and crushing her chest. Asmodeus accepts that damage long enough to acquire the modifier syllable needed to complete Hunter of Grudges. (Chapters 365–366)

Kim believes he can spare Dareum by leaving one word on Asmodeus's Modifier Necklace and trade the remaining syllables for a Myth-grade Story. Asmodeus instead reveals that the apparent defeat was a contingency: the completed targeted modifier clears the scenario and extracts the vessel before Kim can remove him. During the Great War, he fights Raphael, joins coordinated attacks on Agares, and covets the Wall That Divides Good and Evil as a way to become one of the “cowards” admitted to the Final Scenario. His claws mortally wound Agares, but the older Demon King has already passed the Wall elsewhere. Advancement repeatedly requires Asmodeus to accept injury, temporary alliance, and humiliation without ever surrendering the private objective. (Chapters 366, 394, 404, and 412)

The last summoning

After the Great War, Han Myungoh searches the Dark Stratum and pulls Dareum's intact but lifeless body from the wreckage. A Life and Death Pill restores movement, but red light in her eyes reveals that Asmodeus still controls the vessel. He refuses to return the child and instead offers Han the “gift” of watching the ending. Using the Relic of the Abyss, Asmodeus performs Other World Incantation and summons the Demon of 999, intending to derail the conclusion pursued by Metatron, Agares, and Kim. Even at this late point, Dareum remains valuable to him primarily as a body that can carry his will. (Chapters 467 and 471)

The summoned being is the 999th-turn Kim Namwoon, who immediately interprets the scene differently. He distrusts anyone hiding inside another person's body and assumes Han summoned him for rescue from the possessing Demon King. Before Asmodeus can explain or exercise control, Kim Namwoon tears his soul form to shreds and takes the relic. Dareum's body falls free into her father's arms. The death follows directly from Asmodeus's defining method: after a career of turning other people into instruments, he summons an enemy for whom possession itself is proof that the supposed summoner deserves destruction. Later references concern other regression histories or memories, not his survival. (Chapter 471)

Appearance and personality

Asmodeus is most often seen through borrowed incarnation bodies. The earliest direct vessel is Han Dareum, whose small, attractive appearance and charming smile contrast with the Status used to break bodies and intimidate opponents. By the modifier hunt, the vessel appears to be a girl of about sixteen; after fighting Michael, she is missing an arm and leg and has a crushed chest. These injuries belong to Dareum's real incarnation body even though Asmodeus's remote existence initially survives them. In battle, long nails become claws, while demonic energy and pressure announce the inhabitant before appearance does. (Chapters 224, 366, and 394)

He is patient, acquisitive, and comfortable treating apparent defeat as an investment. Asmodeus enjoys resistance and unusual Stories, but amusement never cancels calculation; he can identify a trap, enter it knowingly, and arrange a separate reward. His answer that destruction is “a small destruction to prevent greater destruction” reflects a recurring self-justification: harm is acceptable when it preserves a more interesting or advantageous future. What he consistently fails to respect is attachment that does not behave transactionally, including Han's love for Dareum and the 999th-turn group's loyalty to one another. (Chapters 155, 365–366, and 471)

Abilities, attributes, and stories

Demon King Status

As one of the seventy-two Demon Kings, Asmodeus possesses a true voice, oppressive Status, reinforced physical force, demonic energy, and claws capable of damaging other high-ranking beings. A limited manifestation can catch Yoo Joonghyuk's sword and pressure transcendents; during the Great War he fights archangels and penetrates Agares's body. Lower scenarios restrict how much of that existence may descend, so incarnation vessels, household links, recognized war roles, and Probability expenditure are essential. His power does not protect the soul when 999th-turn Kim Namwoon seizes and destroys it directly. (Chapters 224–225, 394, 412, and 471)

Curse of feared realization

The curse placed on Han consumes Probability to make the victim's imagined “most terrible thing” real. It interacts with the pre-existing Dark Keeper infection to cause pregnancy, birth, and eventual demonic status rather than operating as unrestricted wish magic. The outcome punishes Han and supplies Asmodeus with a future vessel, but the child remains a separate person rather than a projection of the Demon King. Because Dareum's body and Han's parental feelings develop beyond the curse's intended leverage, the technique creates consequences its caster cannot fully command. (Chapters 23 and 206)

Household and incarnation links

Making Dareum an incarnation body grants Asmodeus a route for descent, while Han's noble title creates a dependent connection through which the Demon King can see and impose contract penalties. The Four Yin Demonic Beheading Sword, empowered by the Big Dipper, can temporarily sever Han's link and block observation. Vessel damage is another practical limit: Asmodeus may survive a lost incarnation body, but Dareum bears its wounds. That distinction ends only when Kim Namwoon extracts and destroys Asmodeus's soul while leaving the child's body recoverable. (Chapters 204, 206, 366, and 471)

Guidance of the End

Asmodeus pursues end qualification through revelations, modifier collection, the Seekers of the End, and relics. Hunter of Grudges is completed through a hidden syllable contingency during the Michael battle, demonstrating that he can turn planned losses into scenario clearance. The Relic of the Abyss performs Other World Incantation and summons the Demon of 999 near the Final Scenario. These mechanisms are powerful but not obedient: Kim and Yoo Sangah can feed him a false revelation, Agares can deny him the Wall, and the summoned Outer God can reject and kill its caller. Relationships

• Han Myungoh: Asmodeus curses Han, makes him a dependent, and holds his daughter as leverage. Han's fear becomes parental devotion, motivating him to join the revolution and later recover Dareum from Asmodeus.
• Han Dareum: She is Asmodeus's incarnation vessel, not his natural body or an identity interchangeable with him. Her body suffers the modifier hunt and Great War, then survives after his soul is destroyed.
• Kim Dokja: Their relationship is a series of mutually anticipated traps over Giant Stories, modifier syllables, Probability, and the end. Kim can constrain Asmodeus politically but repeatedly underestimates his contingencies.
• Agares: Asmodeus seeks to replace the senior representative of Evil and claim his Wall. He helps corner and mortally wound Agares, only to discover that the authority he covets has already been entrusted elsewhere.
• Michael and Raphael: Archangel enemies provide the battlefield through which Asmodeus completes Hunter of Grudges. Michael nearly destroys Dareum's body; Raphael is an old opponent during the Great War.
• 999th-turn Kim Namwoon: Asmodeus summons him as an end-stage weapon, but Kim Namwoon identifies the possession of Dareum as intolerable and destroys the summoner instead.

Items

The Modifier Necklace carries the syllables Asmodeus collects during the Great War scenario. The Relic of the Abyss is an ancient Guider-of-the-End eye patch that activates Other World Incantation. Both serve specific scenario strategies rather than ordinary equipment; the latter passes to 999th-turn Kim Namwoon after Asmodeus's death.
