Agares, the Ruler of the East Hell, is the second-ranked Great Demon King and Metatron's opposing counterpart in the Star Stream's system of Absolute Evil and Absolute Good.
Biography
A demon king above ordinary factions
Agares first appears through the pressure of his modifier as Uriel's actions threaten war between Eden and the Demon Realm. His rank places him above most demon kings, and his attention is enough to change how both sides calculate escalation. He observes later battles with enthusiasm but initially commits only when the great story can justify his status. (Chapters 272–338)
The Great War of Saints and Demons
When the great battlefield opens, Agares leads the demon kings through the gate of Absolute Evil. He appears to be Metatron's perfect enemy, yet a later conference reveals that both inherited one divided wall and accepted a system in which Good survives by punishing Evil while Evil survives by resisting Good. Unlike Metatron, Agares has become tired of the repetition and argues against gathering the enormous probability for another war. (Chapters 352–402)
Enemy and collaborator at the wall
When Metatron insists that their modifiers can be revived even after every individual dies, Agares rejects an ending in which only the roles survive. Badly wounded and attacked by several demon kings, he concludes that endless resistance no longer represents him and renounces “Evil.” He activates a cigarette that turns retreat into “cowardice,” vanishes in smoke, and leaves Asmodeus positioned to inherit the vacated role and wall. A later world's judgment
In a later world-line, Jung Heewon and Lee Gilyoung bring the wall to the Final Wall. Agares's and Metatron's inherited authority remains inside it, but the companions have witnessed worlds beyond the system's simple moral division. The encounter leaves Agares's ultimate fate dependent on world-line rather than supplying one universal ending. (Chapters 506–537)
Appearance and personality
Agares appears in an incarnation body almost continually smoking thick cigarettes. Even while stories stream from wounds across his body and his eyes burn with phantom-like resentment, he calmly lights another cigarette under attacks from five or six demon kings. He spits, gives Metatron a bitter grin, and leaves rather than let the ancient role consume his identity. (Chapters 402–404)

Great Demon King status
As the second-ranked demon king, Agares can descend on great battlefields, command lower demon kings, and oppose Eden's highest archangels. His full status requires sufficient probability, so he enters when the scenario can bear his story rather than at every provocation. (Chapters 272, 338, and 398)
Wall That Divides Good and Evil
Agares shares authority over the wall with Metatron. It embodies and separates the two absolute alignments, while also functioning as a fragment useful at the Final Wall. East Hell
His modifier connects him to the second Demon Realm and the accumulated history of “Evil” resisting punishment by “Good.” That story sustains his authority but also pushes him toward repetition. Universal Cigarette
Universal Cigarette is a stigma developed from Agares's extremely long life as a smoker. Each cigarette invokes a specialized overclock on his incarnation body: Prodigious Strength, Agility, and Magic Power let him remain standing under coordinated attacks while his stories are already leaking away. “One Ciggie for Cowardice” instead fills the area with grey smoke and removes him from the battlefield, leaving only the cigarette. The boosts consume cigarettes and overdrive an already damaged vessel; Asmodeus explicitly questions how long he can continue. (Chapter 404)
