Yi Burwi

Yi Burwi is the Buju Sword Clan leader who exploits his blood relationship to Chun Yujong, supplies the addictive Blood God's Reversion Art, and later attempts to preserve a wider conspiracy by killing Chun Yeowun.

Biography

Succession Crisis and Lordship

During the older succession struggle, Burwi approaches Yujong despite the Buju Sword Clan's subordination to the Sword Clan and therefore its expected loyalty to Chun Yujing. He claims kinship through Yujong's mother and promises to make the isolated prince Crown Prince. Burwi then reveals the other heirs' gathering and argues that Yujong must strike first to survive. Once anger has overcome the prince's reluctance, Burwi supplies a supposedly corrected version of the forbidden Blood Reversion Art, claiming covert clans improved it under Sword Clan orders and removed the insanity that caused the original ban. (Chapters 242–243)

The claim is deliberately incomplete. Yujong uses the art to kill rival princes but cannot murder the brother he once trusted, and Burwi tries to finish the killing himself. Afterward Yujong condemns the deception because the technique did have side effects; Burwi answers that its addiction cannot be stopped once begun. Yujong keeps him away but spares him because of their kinship and his earlier aid. Burwi has therefore converted family grievance into long-term leverage over a future Lord, even after losing his place at that Lord's side. (Chapter 243)

Years later, Burwi uses telepathic transmission to push Yujong into activating Blood God's Reversion against Yeowun and the remaining elders. Yeowun is monitoring the messages and exposes him. With the plan failing, fellow conspirator Pahin orders Burwi to die with the Crown Prince while Pahin manages the retreat. Burwi activates the modified art to break Yeowun's grasp and tries to kill the only person who can hear their communications. He remains conscious and can evade several master- and Super Master-level clan leaders, but Yeowun severs one arm and both legs with the Sky Demon Sword before Burwi can commit suicide. The Buju Sword members are arrested, the mansion burns, and Burwi is kept alive for interrogation. Yeowun later seeks a specially compounded poison to force both prisoners to reveal what the conspiracy protects. (Chapters 247–261)

Appearance and personality

Under Blood God's Reversion, Burwi's muscles expand until his clothes tear and veins rise across his body, while his eyes remain clear rather than turning red. He is patient, manipulative, and willing to weaponize family trauma. Even in defeat he prioritizes the conspiracy, first trying to kill Yeowun and then attempting suicide rather than permit interrogation.

Blood God's Reversion Art

Burwi practices a modified Blood Reversion Art developed by covert clans. He reverses energy through different blood points from the incomplete version, so Yeowun's standard sealing sequence does not deactivate it. Muscles and veins enlarge, strength and force qi rise sharply, and Burwi remains rational enough to select targets, dodge coordinated attacks, and form a large blue force-qi sword technique. Unlike the incomplete art, his eyes do not redden and he does not immediately become a mindless beast, though his aggression still increases. (Chapters 243, 247–248)

The improved control does not remove every cost. Yujong becomes addicted after using it, contradicting Burwi's promise of no side effects. The art also cannot bridge an unlimited power gap: Burwi's hardened body withstands ordinary force qi but is cut apart by Yeowun's black force-qi sword. Burwi tries to reverse his flow again for suicide, showing that self-destruction remains available, but Yeowun interrupts before he can die. (Chapters 243, 248–250)

Sword formation and force qi

With the art active, Burwi coats a hand in unusually large blue force qi and unfolds a sword formation intended to tear Yeowun apart. The hand substitutes for a physical blade, demonstrating trained sword principles rather than raw berserk strength. The attack is decisive against lesser clan leaders but never reaches Yeowun, who cuts off the enlarged arm first. (Chapter 248)

Telepathic conspiracy

Burwi sends private internal-energy messages to manipulate Yujong and coordinate with Pahin during the coup. This normally conceals instructions from a room full of leaders. Yeowun's tapped listening mode defeats that secrecy, turning the transmission itself into direct evidence and making Burwi's attempt to deny speaking useless. (Chapter 247)
