Wu Sojung

Wu Sojung is an aggressive academy recruit who challenges Yeowun before pledging lifelong service, then earns a place among the Six Swords and advances from Master to early Grandmaster.

Biography

Six Swords and the Academy Trials

Sojung comes to Yeowun through his friend Hou Sangwha, but refuses to serve on reputation alone. He states that only the strong survive and challenges Yeowun to prove the power that would command his life. Butterfly Blade Dance defeats him in three formations. The loss satisfies rather than alienates him because it establishes the hierarchy on terms he chose. When Yeowun appoints six equal frontline fighters, Sojung asks why the organization is necessary and accepts that the Six Swords are being built for the eventual conflict with the Six Clans. The internal ranking matches Sojung against the other five. He is first eliminated and is embarrassed to lose to Sangwha, whose strength nearly pulls his shoulder from its joint. That defeat becomes motivation. While Yeowun enters closed training, Sojung helps train weaker followers and works hard enough to pass the fourth test earlier than expected. He continues trying to surpass Sangwha, only to be thrown aside again after her axe training increases her physical power. (Chapters 90, 107, 110–111)

By the later academy conflict, Sojung has reached early Grandmaster level, though he is not yet an established Grandmaster qualified for the fifth test. He remains sociable enough to tease Sangwha when she fears a monster and committed enough to be counted among the seven high-ranked supporters available for Yeowun's coronation. Appearance and personality

The chapters do not provide a stable physical description. Sojung is blunt, competitive, sociable, and initially sexist enough to assume Sangwha will be an easy opponent. Repeated losses redirect the embarrassment into training rather than resentment, while his questions show that he wants to understand the purpose of the hierarchy he joins.

Sojung is entering the Master level when recruited, becomes an established Master during faction training, passes the fourth academy test, and reaches the early Grandmaster stage by Chapter 139. He has not yet become an established Grandmaster and therefore cannot take the fifth test. Frontline sword role

As the Fifth Sword in the settled academy order, Sojung is selected for equal-status frontline service against the Six Clans. He can survive extended competition with the other Six Swords and teach academy fundamentals to weaker members.
