Bakgi

Bakgi is an elite kicking specialist who enters the Demonic Academy already stronger than most cadets and becomes one of Chun Yeowun's Six Swords. His pursuit of greater strength eventually leads him to absorb Dragon Turtle blood, gaining dangerous thunder energy whose power initially exceeds his control.

Biography

Poisoned Talent at the Academy

Bakgi enters the academy with a long scar near his right eye and combat experience far beyond that of an ordinary recruit. He is already a master-level warrior, defeats Chun Jongsum, and draws Lee Hameng's attention as one of the few cadets whose performance exceeds expectation. That early success makes him a political target. He is secretly poisoned before an important match, leaving a capable fighter at risk of collapsing for reasons that would look like personal failure. Yeowun detects the hidden condition and saves him instead of exploiting it. The intervention matters more than a factional invitation: it proves that Yeowun will spend effort on someone who cannot immediately repay him. Bakgi later rejects recruitment from competing heirs and joins Yeowun's group, becoming one of the core fighters whose presence lets weaker cadets survive the academy's faction warfare. Gratitude begins the allegiance, but Yeowun's refusal to treat followers as disposable turns it into durable loyalty. (Chapters 49, 55–68, 78)

Six Swords and Front-Line Service

Bakgi advances from master to established grandmaster and then Super Master as Yeowun's faction grows into the cult's ruling force. His specialty remains leg combat. During an intrusion he hears fighting, moves toward it without waiting for orders, and counters an experienced ambusher with an immediate kick. His response compresses detection, movement, and impact into one action, making him particularly dangerous when an enemy expects a conventional weapon draw. (Chapters 120, 156, 158)

After the academy, Bakgi becomes one of the Six Swords and accompanies Yeowun through cult operations and the Yulin journey. The position is not ceremonial. He fights, guards the group, disposes of enemy bodies, and helps manage followers after larger battles. At a mansion he and Hu Bong return covered in ash after cremating the dead; at Changbai Mountain he again directs recovery and cremation. The repeated work shows Yeowun trusts him with the consequences of violence as well as the striking blow. (Chapters 291, 441, 469)

Modernized Combat Training

Yeowun later designs combination martial arts around the individual bodies and habits of the Six Swords. Bakgi's version combines taekwondo-like linear and jumping kicks with capoeira-like rotational movement. A windmill rotation turns his entire body into the drive shaft of the attack: angular momentum, internal energy, and force qi accumulate through the spin before being released through the leg. The rotation creates wind pressure before contact and can greatly increase killing power when the force qi is timed correctly. (Chapter 402)

The method is powerful because it expands the directions from which a leg specialist can attack, but it demands balance and precise energy release. A mistimed spin exposes the back, wastes momentum, or sends force away from the target. It also does not automatically erase differences in cultivation. Bakgi later loses to Hu Bong in seconds and realizes that fellow retainers have surpassed him despite his new training. (Chapters 402, 441)

Dragon Turtle Blood

That defeat aggravates Bakgi's desire to become the strongest warrior beneath his Lord. He drinks blood from the recently killed Dragon Turtle even though earlier attempts by others ended in death. The blood floods him with thunder-attributed energy, violently expands his power, and nearly destroys him before Yeowun calms the raging flow. The result is not a clean promotion. The new energy remains too fresh and potent for Bakgi's existing circulation, discharging unconsciously around his body and making ordinary tasks such as riding a horse unsafe. (Chapter 441)

Chun Inji explains that fully circulating and controlling such power requires the refinement of a Superior Master. Bakgi has acquired the fuel before building the vessel. Until his cultivation catches up, the lightning-like qi can reinforce attacks and threaten nearby enemies, but it can also escape without intent and injure allies or Bakgi himself. The experience forces him to accept that consuming a spirit beast cannot replace the slower work of control. He continues serving through Changbai Mountain, where the group later compares his unstable thunder energy with other forms of demon-derived power. (Chapters 441, 469–470)

Appearance and personality

Bakgi is marked by a long scar near his right eye and a physique trained for explosive leg movement. He is direct, alert, and willing to perform whatever task the group requires, from confronting an ambusher to handling the dead after battle. His loyalty is steady, but his pride in his strength creates impatience when companions advance faster than he does. Drinking Dragon Turtle blood is both proof of his courage and a warning that ambition can outrun judgment.

Cultivation progression

Bakgi enters the academy at master level, reaches established grandmaster and Super Master during Yeowun's rise, and is recognized as the Third Sword among the Six Swords. Rank gives him the internal-energy volume needed for force qi, but his later spirit-beast absorption demonstrates that raw volume and fine control are separate achievements. Kicking arts

His original specialty is leg combat. He can answer an ambush immediately with a kick and remains dangerous without drawing a weapon. The corpus demonstrates speed and striking power but does not give this earlier kicking system a formal name or explain its complete forms, so its mechanics should not be reconstructed from his later taekwondo and capoeira training. Combination of Combat Martial Arts

Yeowun's customized method adds taekwondo-like kicks and capoeira-like rotations to Bakgi's foundation. The windmill movement stores rotational momentum while force qi reinforces the striking leg, producing visible wind pressure and potentially doubling the killing force. Its output depends on completing the rotation and releasing energy at the correct angle. (Chapter 402)

Its representative use begins from a disadvantage: Che Takim catches and twists Bakgi's leg with a jiu-jitsu restraint. Bakgi gathers energy, rotates both legs like a windmill, throws Che Takim away, and creates typhoon-like pressure that makes approach difficult. The escape demonstrates why the modern system complements rather than replaces his established leg specialization. (Chapter 402)

Dragon Turtle thunder qi

Drinking the spirit beast's blood gives Bakgi lightning-like internal energy. Once directed, it can add electrical and concussive force to his body and attacks. Initially, however, it vents without conscious permission because his meridians and control have not adapted to the blood's potency. Yeowun must suppress the first lethal surge, and Chun Inji states that reliable circulation requires Superior-Master refinement. (Chapter 441)

Combat awareness and resolve

Bakgi traces sounds of conflict, enters dangerous exchanges voluntarily, and continues taking practical responsibilities after battle. His will lets him endure training and spirit-beast transformation, though will alone cannot prevent poisoning or stabilize alien energy. (Chapters 49, 156, 291, 469)
