Mu Gu-cheon — Nano Machine

Mu Gu-cheon, the Shanxi Sword Master, is the first-ranked leader and field commander of the Forces of Justice at Changbai Mountain. He is a skilled swordsman willing to occupy the weakest point of a formation, yet twice discovers that massed courage cannot bridge a supreme-level difference in power.

Biography

Command of the Changbai expedition

Gu-cheon occupies the first seat among the assembled Justice leaders, ahead of even the Shaolin head, Gak-yeon. He rides at the front of the five-thousand-warrior expedition and takes responsibility for negotiations when the apparent God of the East bars the path. Blood on the guardian suggests that the advance party has already been defeated, but Gu-cheon avoids demanding restitution and instead offers to prevent another misunderstanding. His goal is to recruit the supreme warrior if possible and, failing that, obtain the White Tiger core before either the Demonic Cult or Blade God Six Martial Clan can claim it. (Chapters 439–442)

When negotiation fails, Gu-cheon leads six other masters in the Dipper Formation. He voluntarily takes the north-lead position, its weakest and most exposed point, then initiates with the Linked Invincible Sword. The formation is executed correctly, but the opponent dismantles it with ordinary-looking fists and kicks, breaking Gu-cheon's ribs and rendering all seven leaders unconscious. Once recovered, Gu-cheon accepts the final strategy of letting Yeowun collide with the mountain's greater threat. (Chapters 442–443)

Breaking the alliance

Yeowun enters the Yulin camp to punish Mak Wijong for stealing Dragon Turtle blood. Gu-cheon first tries to invoke the alliance and then surrounds Yeowun with five thousand armed warriors, demanding that he relinquish the White Tiger core. He knows the gamble may cost his life but assumes massed numbers can force a choice. Yeowun rejects the premise, ends the alliance, and overwhelms the formation. When Gu-cheon tries to stab free at close range, Yeowun breaks his wrist and tears off his right arm. (Chapters 444–445)

Gu-cheon retrieves his broken sword with his left hand and charges again, intending his sacrifice to ignite Yulin's morale while allies screen him from the moving Air Swords. He forms sword qi for a final thrust at Yeowun's neck. Yeowun evades it, breaks the remaining wrist, and freezes Gu-cheon's body while leaving the head exposed. The punishment denies him the martyrdom he wanted: immobilized but conscious, he must watch his warriors face the consequences. He is alive at his last direct scene, but missing an arm and sealed in ice. (Chapter 446)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not provide a stable physical description. Gu-cheon is observant, formal, and intensely duty-bound. He negotiates before fighting and personally takes the dangerous position when combat becomes unavoidable. His courage is genuine, but his command assumptions remain rooted in conventional force: a perfect formation, five thousand elites, and a leader's sacrifice should matter. Encounters with Ark Wui and Yeowun show how completely Divine-level individuals invalidate that arithmetic.

Martial arts and abilities

End-stage Superior Master: Gu-cheon is explicitly at the end stage of the Superior Master realm and regarded as one of Yulin's best swordsmen. He withstands pressure better than ordinary leaders and can still produce sword qi with his non-dominant hand after traumatic injury. The rank remains far below Ark Wui and Yeowun, who defeat or restrain him with minimal effort. (Chapters 442 and 445–446)
Linked Invincible Sword: His opening technique in the Dipper Formation is an exquisite sword attack that begins the linked sequence. Gu-cheon concentrates on completing the sword line while the other positions supply harmony and escalating pressure. The formation's structure is correct; it fails because Ark Wui's raw control breaks the lead before the sequence can overcome him. (Chapter 442)
Dipper Formation leadership: The seven-person formation is based on constellations and the balance of yin and yang. The north lead is its weakest point, so Gu-cheon takes that place himself. His signals synchronize the other leaders, demonstrating both technical familiarity and willingness to absorb the greatest risk. (Chapter 442)
Sword qi and off-hand adaptation: After his right arm is torn away, Gu-cheon picks up the broken sword in his left hand and forms sword qi for another charge. The adaptation preserves one final offensive line but cannot compensate for blood loss, a broken remaining wrist, or Yeowun's simultaneous control of numerous Air Swords. (Chapters 445–446)
Command and morale: Gu-cheon can mobilize thousands, coordinate ranked leaders, and deliberately use his own advance as a rallying symbol. Yeowun counters by keeping him alive and immobilized, demonstrating that morale strategy depends on the enemy allowing the sacrifice to acquire meaning. (Chapters 445–446)

Chun Yeowun: Ends Yulin's alliance, tears off Gu-cheon's arm, and freezes him rather than allow a heroic death.
