Bu Churyong is a senior Demonic Cult elder who backs Chun Mukeum during the succession crisis and resists Chun Yeowun's consolidation of power.

Biography

Coalition behind Chun Mukeum

Churyong appears as the Demonic Cult's Third Elder and the senior political operator in a four-clan coalition organized around Chun Mukeum. When Chun Yeowun visits Mun Yun, Churyong interrupts the meeting under the formally impeccable excuse that an elder must greet the Crown Prince. His real objective is to stop the Demon Dragon Clan from joining Yeowun and bind it to Mukeum through marriage to Mun Ku. (Chapters 213–214)

Churyong understands leverage better than the younger prince. When Mun Yun becomes furious over Mukeum's past threat to erase his clan, Churyong praises the Demon Dragon Clan and lowers the temperature rather than escalating. He then offers a tag said to lead to the Godly Doctor, knowing that Mun Yun has spent years seeking treatment for his grandson. In exchange, Mun Ku must marry Mukeum and the clan must effectively join the coalition. The plan collapses when Mun Ku reveals her relationship with Yeowun and Mukeum loses control. Churyong clashes with the disguised Yin Moha after she intercepts the prince's hostile movement. Churyong later joins Ja Kinkeng, Hang Soyu, and other elders in turning on the Palace Guards during the confrontation between Yeowun and Chun Yujong. The action aligns him with Yeowun against the sitting Lord, though it does not erase the coalition's separate interests. Resistance to the coronation

Afterward, Churyong invokes cult law to oppose Yeowun's immediate coronation. He argues that issues should pass through the elders and that the unconscious Lord should recover before the succession is made irreversible. Yeowun's invitation to dinner convinces Churyong that the pressure worked. He negotiates safeguards, inspects the food, and eats only what Yeowun also eats. Yet the freshly killed bull's heart contains dormant poison parasites that evade a superior master's ordinary poison sense. When Churyong rejects the abolition of the six-clan system, strength-based elder ranks, and the transfer of private armies to the cult, he threatens that the allied clans represent one fifth of the cult's forces. Yeowun activates the parasites and forces all three elders to kneel. Churyong recognizes that the political trap is complete: disobedience can now trigger fatal pain. (Chapters 254–256)

Fifth Elder under the new order

Churyong kneels during Yeowun's coronation and enters the subsequent competition for elder seats. He assumes that the deaths or removal of rival clan heads leave few warriors able to surpass him, but hidden experts emerge and he fails in the second round. He falls from Third Elder to Fifth Elder. Despite the humiliation, he remains a senior field officer and is later deployed under Suh Deng against the Blade God Six Martial Clan, now serving within the centralized structure he had opposed. Appearance and personality
