Admiral Lim

Admiral Lim Cheong-hwa, called the East Spear, is a Superior Master eunuch who rises through meticulous attention to the head of the palace intelligence force, then stakes that power on Crown Prince Zhu Taiyoon's failed conspiracy.

Biography

Rise of the East Spear

Lim begins among the ordinary eunuchs and rises to the apex as Admiral of the East Spear. He attributes that ascent to a teacher who taught him that a eunuch's greatest virtue is attentiveness to everything around him. Lim follows the lesson meticulously: he builds a public staff, commands the palace's eunuch intelligence force, cultivates an unthreatening feminine smile, and becomes one of the Imperial Palace's three greatest warriors beside Yon Namgun and the Supreme Commander. More than thirty years in the palace also teach him to read danger quickly and to treat information, loyalty, and violence as interchangeable tools. (Chapters 350, 370–373)

The Crown Prince's conspiracy

Lim ties the East Spear to Crown Prince Zhu Taiyoon and cooperates with Master Dogun of the Blade God Six Martial Clan. Their plan murders palace personnel, plants misleading martial traces, and frames the Demonic Cult as infiltrators so that evidence in the Royal Shrine can destroy the crown prince's rival. Lim presents the accusation with confidence and repeatedly calms Zhu Taiyoon when the prince's anger threatens their performance. Yet his loyalty is conditional. When Elder Cheong-su identifies Blade God wounds, Lim immediately decides to abandon Dogun and erase the connection; when Cheong-su also recognizes the East Spear's High Wave Sword on the bodies, Lim realizes that witnesses leaving the chamber would mean treason charges and the destruction of his organization. Lim therefore accepts Dogun's proposal to kill everyone present and rewrite the outcome. He orders roughly a hundred eunuchs to attack under the fiction that the crown prince has been deceived, pulls Zhu Taiyoon out of immediate danger with light-footwork, and aims for Zhu Taikhan. He assures the frightened crown prince that he will take responsibility, privately pleased that Zhu Taiyoon is relying on him rather than preparing to abandon him. The choice exposes Lim's central priority: not abstract service to the empire, but preservation of the patronage network that made him powerful. (Chapters 371–372)

Defeat in the underground shrine

Yeowun's arrival destroys Lim's calculations. Even Lim's enormous internal energy cannot free him from the pressure pinning the East Spear to the floor. He devises a two-part escape: he will spend all his energy attacking Yeowun, while a Super Master group leader uses the expected interruption to rise and protect the crown prince. The plan also treats the subordinate as a sacrifice. Lim leaps with his hidden needles and spreads more than a hundred projectiles so that some threaten Zhu Taikhan, expecting Yeowun to release his suppression to defend himself and the prince. Instead, Yeowun stops every needle and sends them back at twice the speed, concentrating them on Lim. Lim protects his body well enough that the needles penetrate only shallowly, but the exchange leaves him helpless. (Chapters 372–373)

Yeowun then beheads him. His death terrifies the surviving eunuchs, deprives Zhu Taiyoon of his chief operator, and helps collapse the East Spear into a condemned organization. Later testimony establishes the prince's frequent visits to East Spear headquarters and reveals the scheme that Lim can no longer conceal. The attention that once carried him upward fails at the decisive point: he correctly identifies the danger to himself, but every solution he chooses deepens the treason that destroys him. Appearance and personality

Lim wears a feminine smile, paints his lips red, and behaves younger than his age. The cultivated presentation contrasts with the speed and ruthlessness of his decisions. He is observant, controlled enough to soothe Zhu Taiyoon while frightened himself, and adept at reframing violence as loyal service. He is also deeply self-protective: he will discard allies, sacrifice subordinates, kill witnesses, and manipulate the truth rather than surrender the position he spent decades building.

Martial arts and abilities

Superior Master cultivation

Lim is a Superior Master with enormous internal energy and enhanced senses. The latter allow a warrior at his level to hear voices across the underground hall when he focuses, while the former lets him remain partly functional under pressure that crushes most of his eunuchs to the ground. He can protect his body with energy strongly enough to keep reflected needles from penetrating deeply. These defenses are substantial within the palace hierarchy but cannot overcome Yeowun's broader suppression or concentrated counterattack. (Chapters 372–374)

Sunflower Treasure Blade

Lim has learned the eunuchs' legendary Sunflower Treasure Blade, the named art supporting his position among the palace's three greatest warriors. The supplied chapters identify the art and its prestige but do not explain its training method, activation, or complete sequence, and Lim does not successfully demonstrate a clearly named blade form before his death. His “East Spear” title denotes his office and martial identity; it does not establish a separate spear technique in this corpus. (Chapter 370)

Hidden-needle attack

His clearest demonstrated technique uses large numbers of needles concealed in his sleeves. Lim gathers his remaining energy, leaps despite Yeowun's pressure, and launches more than one hundred projectiles in a broad pattern that threatens both Yeowun and Zhu Taikhan. The spread serves two tactical purposes: it forces defense across multiple targets and is meant to interrupt the energy suppressing the other eunuchs. The tactic fails because Yeowun halts the entire volley without releasing control, then reverses the needles at twice their original speed and focuses them on one point. Lim's internal-energy guard reduces the wounds but cannot restore the initiative. (Chapter 373)

Light-footwork, command, and deception

Lim uses a distinctive light-footwork method to pull Zhu Taiyoon away from battle and move toward Zhu Taikhan. As East Spear's admiral, he also coordinates about one hundred eunuchs through verbal and telepathic orders, rapidly revises a failed covert plan, and uses palace protocol to present conspirators as rebels. These skills depend on obedience, secrecy, and control of the narrative. Once an impartial witness identifies the East Spear's technique and Yeowun makes physical coercion ineffective, the same network becomes evidence against him. (Chapters 370–373)
