Zhu Taiyoon

Zhu Taiyoon is the Great Ming Emperor's favored eldest son, an arrogant Crown Prince whose attempt to frame his half-brother and the Demonic Cult destroys the succession he assumes is already his.

Biography

The Imperial Palace

Taiyoon enters the Royal Shrine in white armor as the man considered most likely to become the next Emperor. He treats his half-brother Zhu Taikhan as beneath princely equality and expects one day to receive his submission. Working with Admiral Lim and Master Dogun, he plans to use murdered palace personnel, planted martial traces, and respected Yulin investigators to make Taikhan appear connected to Demonic Cult rebels. The immediate goal is to destroy the Emperor's trust in his rival and purge Imperial Guards who never supported Taiyoon; the Blade God faction expects to use the future Emperor against the cult afterward. Elder Cheong-su's impartial examination reverses the trap. Instead of confirming Demonic techniques, he identifies both Blade God wounds and the East Spear's High Wave Sword. Taiyoon first calls the evidence a counter-conspiracy, then orders Lim to kill Taikhan and every witness when he realizes that survival depends on controlling the story. Yeowun's arrival makes that impossible. The prince is pinned face-first by pressure while Lim is killed, and the severed head makes a battlefield-inexperienced Taiyoon vomit. Even then, he thinks first about the obstacle between himself and the throne. (Chapters 371–374)

Yeowun breaks both of Taiyoon's arms after the prince invokes Imperial status and threatens the Demonic Cult. Fear finally makes him beg, but once placed before Taikhan he falls back on birth hierarchy, arguing that the Emperor will choose an Empress's son over a concubine's testimony. He even tries to bargain with Cheong-su to keep Yulin outside the scandal. The Emperor's personal arrival removes that last refuge: investigators expose the East Spear relationship, and the Emperor has watched enough to see Taiyoon's ambition directly. (Chapters 374–375)

Taiyoon survives but loses the political system that made him dangerous. Admiral Lim is dead, the East Spear is dismantled, Yulin rejects the alliance with the Blade God faction, and the Emperor removes his eldest son from succession. Taikhan later holds the Crown Prince title Taiyoon had treated as an entitlement. (Chapters 375, 379–381, 400)

Appearance and personality

Taiyoon is a young man who appears in white armor. He is ambitious, class-conscious, emotionally transparent, and accustomed to a life without meaningful obstruction. Confidence turns to rage when evidence fails him and to pleading when rank no longer protects his body. Even after humiliation, he continues calculating how birth and court favor might preserve his claim.

As Crown Prince, Taiyoon can command East Spear forces, summon respected Yulin elders into an investigation, compel a rival prince to attend, and present accusations with the presumption of Imperial legitimacy. This power depends on the Emperor's confidence and obedient palace institutions. Once inspectors expose the network and the Emperor withdraws favor, Taiyoon has no independent base strong enough to preserve the title. (Chapters 370–381)

Internal energy

Taiyoon can release threatening energy when confronting Taikhan, showing some martial cultivation. He has never been on a battlefield and demonstrates no named art, formal realm, or meaningful resistance to Yeowun's pressure and telekinesis. Political manipulation

He coordinates staged evidence, recruits credible outside witnesses, and understands how legitimacy depends on what the Emperor can be made to believe. The plan's limitation is verification: Cheong-su reads the actual wound patterns, and Taiyoon has no contingency except killing every witness. His inability to control panic and contempt also repeatedly reveals motives his polished accusation was meant to conceal. (Chapters 370–375)
