Will

Will is Harry Cardenez's young personal assistant and legal aide. His skepticism toward the Howlers gives the Cardenez negotiations an internal check, but witnessing their defense of the company's factories changes open hostility into guarded cooperation.

Biography

Testing the Cardenez–Howlers agreement

Will accompanies Harry to ask the Howlers for protection from the Scatterbugs and objects when his employer offers control of the business. Although his interruptions reflect loyalty to the company, Harry repeatedly has to silence him while Kai explains the risk the Howlers will assume. Will then reviews the contract in his professional capacity and catches the split between Howlers Ltd and the Gary Dem Foundation. He remains suspicious of the arrangement, but confirms its terms before both sides sign. (Chapters 519, 522)

At the besieged factory, Will reports enemy numbers and doubts that the small Howlers party can protect both sites. Watching them rout the attackers makes him acknowledge that the group sent more power than necessary, while a phone call confirming Gary Dem's solo victory at the second factory overturns his remaining assumptions about their leader. Will subsequently speaks to Kai more cautiously, assists Harry's coordination, and escorts Numba to a family strategy meeting. He remains alive in Cardenez service after the immediate crisis. (Chapters 523–530)

Appearance and personality

Will is a young man in a perfectly tidy suit with thick black-framed glasses and a tablet usually in hand. He is precise, protective of Harry's achievements, and quick to take offense at perceived disrespect. His anxious objections can be tactless, but they are grounded in careful attention to financial and operational risk rather than personal ambition. (Chapters 519, 522–523)

Powers and abilities

Will has no demonstrated supernatural or combat power. As a law graduate, he reviews contracts, identifies ownership and voting implications, and supports negotiations for Cardenez Electronics. He also gathers field reports, tracks simultaneous attacks, and communicates with factory staff. He cannot personally solve the military crisis, and his forecasts initially undervalue the Howlers because he judges their strength by visible numbers. (Chapters 522–529)

  • Numba: Will supports the Cardenez heir's movements and escorts him to Harry's post-battle strategy meeting.
