Vixen

Vixen is a NIRV-provided Altered who serves two generations of the Scavenger ruling family as their chief guard and Nox's right-hand man. His capture and abuse of Vlad turns a gang assignment into the revenge that kills him.

Biography

Guard duty creates a personal enemy

Vixen intervenes when Austin and the Shadow Fighter disrupt a Scavenger tournament, revealing his Altered form to a city where such fighters are rare. Austin withstands his venom and knocks him into the cage, but leaves to get an injured ally to hospital. Vixen uses that withdrawal to seize Vlad, beats him, and delivers him to Nox for interrogation. Although Vixen's assigned role is to protect Nox and his daughters, that capture and his service as Nox's enforcer make him one focus of Vlad's rage over the Scavengers' killing of the boy's father. During the attack on the Phantom Brawl, Vixen protects Nox and initially controls the fight by melting Vlad's wings and injecting venom into his neck. Vlad's infected body neutralizes the toxin, however, allowing him to tear apart one snake arm, pierce Vixen's chest, and crush him under repeated blows. Vixen dies with severe head trauma before NIRV's B-rank Retrievers secure the building; their later account identifies him as a former C-rank Retriever whom NIRV had placed with the Scavengers. Appearance and personality

In human form Vixen is a muscular man with a chiseled body. He is confident in the Scavengers' control of the city and treats captives brutally, but remains disciplined enough to prioritize Nox when the headquarters is attacked. His taunts about Vlad's defective transformation show professional familiarity with NIRV's products as well as overconfidence in his venom. (Chapters 712, 715, 742, 744)

Powers and abilities

Vixen's snake-based Altered form thickens his neck, covers parts of his body in scales, and turns his head and both hands into three fanged snake heads. His arm-heads extend over distance and pursue moving targets like homing weapons. Their fangs inject venom that he claims is stronger than a king cobra's and normally kills humans quickly; the mouths can also spray acidic green liquid that melts Altered tissue. He is durable enough to rise after Austin punches him into a cage and can somersault around Vlad's charge. (Chapters 712–713, 742, 744)

His strongest effects have biological counters. Austin's minotaur physiology resists the venom, while the more dangerous infection already changing Vlad's body expels it. The extending arms can be pinned and physically damaged, and Vlad tears one open before landing the fatal attack. No source establishes an antidote, a separate full-form variant, or power beyond the three-headed snake transformation. (Chapters 713, 744–746)

• Nox: Vixen is Nox's right-hand man and NIRV-provided protector, carrying out captures and defending him during the final assault.
• Vlad: Vixen captures and abuses Vlad, creating the revenge motive that culminates in Vixen's death.
• Austin: Austin exposes the limits of Vixen's venom and strength but withdraws before finishing their first fight.
• Vere: Vixen serves as guard to Vere and her sisters, although Nox's orders ultimately place him against those daughters' attempt to escape their father.
