Jin

Jin Talon is the leader of the Fourth Vampire Family. His explosive blood makes him one of the Settlement's senior combatants, while repeated encounters with werewolves make him a cautious source of information during the Glutton crisis. References to an “owner Jin” in editorial advertisements are not narrative appearances of Jin Talon.

Biography

From the Slough incursion to Glutton cooperation

Jin first appears extracting wounded vampires after their attack on Slough, warning them that werewolf claws heal differently from ordinary injuries. He later introduces himself as the Fourth Family Leader during negotiations between the vampires and Howlers. The groups remain wary rather than friendly, but the confrontation establishes that neither side benefits from immediate war and gives Jin direct knowledge of Gary Dem's pack. (Chapters 1172, 1184, and 1198–1200)

When Glutton werewolves begin appearing across the country, Jin's priorities shift toward containment. He rescues Daphne Bree and asks her to suppress a captive's transformation, only to learn that the corruption leaves the victim irrational. That evidence helps Jin argue that the Howlers are not deliberately causing the attacks. He later joins other Family Leaders in warning Gary about Centrefield, accepts an operational alliance, and fights beside Howlers members against the horde. His loud explosive techniques attract additional enemies and can injure him at close range, but he remains active when the groups encounter mutated Gluttons. Jin is a vampire with black hair flowing nearly to his neck. He is often cautious about werewolf abilities and the safety of his family, sometimes sounding impatient or arrogant, but he can revise his position when Daphne and the Howlers provide evidence. (Chapters 1172, 1758–1759, and 1796)

Fourth Family explosive blood

As a vampire, Jin has enhanced speed, reactions, blood aura, and accelerated healing from blood, although werewolf wounds resist that recovery. The Fourth Family's inherited specialty makes blood explosive after it leaves the body. As Family Leader, Jin also holds absolute blood control and has refined the trait into projectiles and controlled blasts capable of tearing apart transformed bodies or directing an explosion away from allies. The explosions trade subtlety for destructive force: their noise draws other Gluttons, resistant targets can survive incomplete blasts, and detonating at contact range can catch Jin in his own explosion. He can destroy a corrosive tongue wrapped around his arm, but the blast also damages and disorients him. Werewolf scratches remain slow to heal, limiting how freely he can trade hits despite vampire resilience. (Chapters 1793–1796)

• Gary Dem: Jin moves from hostile outsider to negotiating counterpart and temporary ally against a threat affecting both species.
• Daphne Bree: Jin rescues Daphne, then relies on her power to test whether a captured Glutton can be questioned.
• Haylock: The fellow Family Leader fights beside Jin and offsets the noise and short-range risks of Jin's explosions with controlling strings.
• Innu: Jin operates on the same Centrefield front while Innu and Haylock contain the horde around him.
