Yag
Yag is a young Cursed faction fighter equipped with a blood axe and a conventional beast axe. Though openly nervous about confronting Dalki in a small group, he chooses to remain with Quinn, scouts the enemy mothership, and identifies a crystal-processing route important to the operation. (Chapters 1203–1217)
Biography
Rescue mission and mothership reconnaissance
Yag questions whether Quinn's twelve-person group can survive a large Dalki force, but exits shadow concealment with the others to protect ten injured Travellers. His blood axe is knocked from his hand in the first exchange, confirming that courage does not remove the power gap. After Quinn destroys the attackers, several blood-weapon users return to the shelter; Yag and Iree choose to continue despite having seen the danger directly. (Chapters 1203–1204)
Higher-spiked Dalki soon force Quinn to place Yag and the other vulnerable fighters into Shadow Lock. Once aboard the mothership, Yag again warns that one-spike groups would require several fighters without Quinn, then joins Deni and Bella in a quiet three-person search. They locate an active crystal-processing factory, and Yag calls Quinn over rather than continuing into unsearched routes. He then leads the group to the machinery and explains that its conveyor belts feed multiple areas, turning cautious reconnaissance into useful operational intelligence. (Chapters 1205–1208)
Protecting Alex and assessing another shelter
Yag later deploys with Iree, Anna, and Ting under orders to protect Alex rather than accompany Quinn into another mothership. At the small shelter they assess the population and terrain, with Yag noting that its difficult landscape likely explains why it escaped attack. This is his last established assignment; the corpus does not state whether he fought in later phases of the war or survived them. (Chapters 1216–1217)
Appearance and personality
Yag is described as a young man, but the corpus does not establish his hair, eyes, build, or clothing. He is nervous and verbally cautious, repeatedly identifying numerical and tactical risks. That caution does not amount to cowardice: he stays when others withdraw, enters the mothership, searches with a small team, and reports discoveries instead of taking needless risks. (Chapters 1203–1208)
Powers and abilities
Blood weapon and axes
Yag wields a small axe formed as his blood weapon and carries a second beast axe on his back. He swings the blood axe at a Dalki, but the enemy knocks it to the ground, showing that the weapon does not bridge the physical gap by itself. The corpus does not explain how Yag received the blood weapon, its summoning cost, whether it has a unique effect, or how its power compares with the conventional axe; it also never shows the beast axe used. (Chapter 1203)
Scouting and tactical judgment
Yag moves quietly through the mothership with Deni and Bella, communicates discoveries to Iree and Quinn, and leads the group to the crystal factory. He recognises that ordinary fighters would need a numerical advantage even against one-spike Dalki and avoids exploring unknown conveyor routes once the useful facility is found. These are field skills rather than a named supernatural ability, and no personal ability, soul weapon, or later progression is established. (Chapters 1206–1208 and 1217)
Relationships
- Quinn: Yag voices risks to Quinn but repeatedly follows him into danger. Quinn protects him through shadow and later entrusts his group with Alex's safety. (Chapters 1203–1208 and 1216)
- Iree: Iree helps Yag during the first Dalki clash, stays with him when others return, and receives his scouting updates aboard the mothership. They later serve together in Alex's protection detail. (Chapters 1203–1207 and 1216)
- Alex: Yag is among four blood-weapon users ordered to protect Alex at the shelter. The corpus does not show a personal conversation between them. (Chapters 1216–1217)
- Deni and Bella: The two accompany Yag during the mothership search. Their small team discovers the crystal-processing factory without initiating an unnecessary fight. (Chapters 1206–1208)
