Yaddy

Yaddy is a Vampire Corps general who commands an outlying base when Quinn returns after a thousand years. Concern for his position makes him distrust Quinn, conceal inconvenient details from Commander Andy, and continue opposing him even after his identity is confirmed, resulting in Yaddy's removal and arrest. (Chapters 1621–1657)

Biography

General of the horde-defence base

Yaddy oversees the Vampire Corps response to a level-four beast horde. After Vicky, Jake, and Quinn prevent expected casualties, he gathers the lieutenants, publicly mourns the few losses, and distributes awards. He gives Quinn credit for removing the final wave, but his smirk and later conduct show that public ceremony does not translate into personal trust. (Chapters 1621–1631)

Quinn's unexplained strength and influence unsettle Yaddy, yet the general initially tolerates him because his actions have protected the Corps. Quinn can place even the vampire-lord-level Yaddy under Influence, demonstrating how little direct control the general actually has over the returned vampire. (Chapters 1635–1636)

Suspicion and self-protection

When Yaddy recognises Jessica, he reports her recovery to the main base but omits the “troublesome” vampire accompanying her. He fears that an honest account would make him look reckless and unable to manage his post. The omission turns a security decision into career protection and deepens his hostility toward Quinn when Andy arrives. (Chapters 1642–1648)

Yaddy openly mocks Quinn's claim to be the historical hero and enjoys the support of sceptical lieutenants. Even after an ancient witness recognises Quinn and Andy bows to him, Yaddy argues that Influence may have fabricated the scene. His last objection is motivated explicitly by panic that his earlier opposition will cost him power. (Chapters 1651–1654)

Removal and detention

Andy condemns Yaddy as a man concerned only with his position, relieves him as general, and orders a replacement. Yaddy is bound in Andy's red string and transported back to Mars despite repeated escape attempts. He remains alive when Andy begins deciding his successor and punishment; the corpus does not record a trial, execution, release, or later role. (Chapters 1654–1657)

Appearance and personality

The corpus does not give Yaddy's height, hair, eyes, clothing, or apparent age. His title, luxury lounge, two close confidants, and the salutes he receives indicate the public status of a senior commander rather than a distinctive physical description. (Chapters 1629 and 1646–1648)

He is ceremonially capable but insecure, status-conscious, and quick to blame outsiders. Yaddy can honour good battlefield results and preserve order, yet he hides information that might reflect badly on him and doubles down when evidence threatens his rank. His final resistance is self-preservation rather than a documented ideological disagreement with Quinn. (Chapters 1630–1636 and 1642–1657)

Powers and abilities

Vampire-lord physiology

Yaddy is explicitly classed as a vampire lord, giving him the enhanced strength, speed, senses, and healing associated with that stage. His level makes him a credible base commander, but the corpus does not isolate a battle, blood technique, or family ability that belongs specifically to him. (Chapters 1636 and 1655)

Rank does not protect him from stronger control. Quinn's Charm and Influence can dominate him, and Andy's reinforced red string restrains him even as he repeatedly tries to escape. These encounters establish clear counters but no quantified limits for Yaddy's own strength. (Chapter 1636; Chapter 1655)

Military command

Yaddy coordinates horde defence, leads thirteen lieutenants, conducts casualty recognition, reports to the central Vampire Corps, and manages information at his base. His later concealment and political misjudgment show that administrative authority does not equal sound crisis judgment. (Chapters 1621–1648)

Relationships

• Andy: Andy is Yaddy's commander and the authority who removes him. Yaddy's attempt to challenge Andy's recognition of Quinn ends his career.
• Quinn: Yaddy credits Quinn publicly but distrusts and mocks him privately. Confirmation of Quinn's identity exposes Yaddy's self-serving decisions.
• Jessica: Yaddy recognises Jessica and reports her recovery, but his handling of her companions is shaped by fear for his reputation.
• Vampire Corps lieutenants: Yaddy commands the base's lieutenants and relies on their scepticism, but they obey Andy when ordered to detain him.
