Tempus

Tempus Cha is the Original vampire of the second family who replaces Cindy as its leader. His ability reverses physical states, allowing him to restore damaged structures and bodies or reduce a person to a younger form. Although he initially supports Quinn's freedom, his private allegiance to Immortui leads him to awaken Laxmus and turn against the settlement. (Chapters 937–944, 1104, 1258–1261, and 1343–1359)

Biography

Returning as the second-family Original

Tempus awakens after Cindy's fall and assumes the second seat with a relaxed manner unlike hers. He votes to let Quinn leave the settlement, reasoning that Quinn purged the corruption from Tempus's family, protected the vampires, and would escape regardless of a hostile ruling. His support is pragmatic rather than proof of loyalty to Quinn; while assisting Bryce, he warns that teaching more vampires shadow power may give Arthur additional tools. (Chapters 937–944 and 1104)

Pursuing the erased first king

As Arthur's campaign destabilises the leaders, Tempus argues that the settlement needs the erased first king's strength. He catches Silver, Leo, and Erin inside the king's castle and coerces their help by reversing Silver into a small child. Tempus describes Laxmus as an old friend and presents the awakening as necessary for vampire survival, ignoring the historical reason the first king was suppressed. Once he locates the tomb, he restores Silver and uses his Original blood to wake Laxmus. (Chapters 1258–1261 and 1343–1356)

Betrayal and death

Laxmus announces a campaign of human extermination, exposing the consequence of Tempus's choice and Tempus's shared loyalty to Immortui. Tempus heals Laxmus's battle wounds, making him an urgent secondary target. Paul, Silver, and Kazz overwhelm him by layering poison and repeated strikes faster than his reversal can clear the damage; weapons through his head kill him in Chapter 1358. His last regret concerns not seeing Laxmus send victims to Immortui, confirming that the awakening was ideological as well as strategic. (Chapters 1356–1360)

Appearance and personality

Tempus is a male Original whose soft smile and casual speech initially contrast with Cindy's severity. The corpus does not provide a stable description of his hair, build, clothing, or apparent age. He is observant, amused by danger, and willing to sound reasonable when it serves his aims. That lackadaisical confidence becomes anger when Paul and Silver trick him, while his loyalty to Laxmus and Immortui ultimately overrides concern for the settlement he claims to save. (Chapters 937, 943, 1123, and 1343–1358)

Powers and abilities

Physical-state reversal

Tempus can return matter and living bodies toward an earlier physical state. He restores a damaged wall except for pieces that are no longer present, reverses Silver into a child and later restores her adult body, heals Laxmus's fresh wounds, and repeatedly clears poison and cuts from himself. These uses show important limits: missing wall material does not reappear, his power requires contact for transformations shown on people, and sufficiently rapid overlapping damage can outpace the reversal. (Chapters 1104, 1347–1358)

Original vampire combat

As an Original, Tempus has exceptional speed, strength, blood hardening, and resilience. He evades coordinated sword and claw attacks, protects his neck with hardened blood, and pushes through poison while trying to touch Paul. The reversal ability greatly extends his endurance but is not automatic immortality; when poison slows his recovery and three attackers strike continuously, simultaneous wounds to the head kill him. (Chapters 1343–1359)

Historical knowledge

Tempus knows concealed details about Original blood, the erased first king, and the castle's connection to its chosen ruler. He can advise Bryce about Arthur and bring Laxmus up to date after awakening him. His knowledge is not complete—Tempus says he was not alive for some of the earliest events—and his friendship with Laxmus biases the interpretation he offers Silver's group. (Chapters 1104, 1258, and 1345–1356)

Relationships

  • Laxmus: Tempus calls the erased first king his friend, awakens him, and heals him in battle. Their shared service to Immortui turns Tempus against the other leaders. Laxmus has no configured generated page and remains unlinked. (Chapters 1351–1358)
  • Silver: Tempus uses Silver as leverage by reversing her age. She later helps defeat him and ensures his restoration power cannot keep pace with the group's attacks. (Chapters 1347–1358)
  • Paul and Kazz: Paul identifies Tempus as the support keeping Laxmus in the fight; Kazz joins Paul and Silver, and their combined poison and physical attacks kill the Original. (Chapters 1357–1359)
