Ruby

Ruby is a survivor and community leader who helps build the hidden shelter where Arthur awakens. Her loyalty to Arthur and her abducted daughter Minny initially makes her resist the military, but she joins the Cursed alliance and gives up a demon-tier weapon in exchange for her people's safety and help rescuing her child. (Chapters 275–525, 767, 1121–1250, and 1535–1559)

Biography

Building the shelter

Ruby first appears among the stranded people fighting beasts on a portal planet, warning that an unexplained beast death may signal a stronger predator rather than safety. She later organises the reconstruction of an abandoned military base into a working settlement, directing lifts and adapting limited technology because the group has no route back to Earth. (Chapters 275 and 473)

When Arthur awakens nearby, Ruby honours his request to feed, clothe, and shelter Erin and Leo. Arthur comes to regard the settlement he built with Ruby as a place where he is welcome, while Ruby's leadership turns it from a desperate camp into an improving multi-level shelter. (Chapters 474, 525, and 767)

Captivity and the demon-tier weapon

During the Dalki occupation Ruby remains the recognised leader of the civilians. She carries Arthur's demon-tier weapon when Nathan's soldiers arrive, distrusting forces that may endanger the benefactor protecting them. Activating it for the first time traps her in the attack's process; when Nathan places civilians in its path, Ruby begs for help rather than harm her own people. (Chapters 1121 and 1228–1229)

Ruby explains that Arthur arranged Dalki protection but that the enemy took her daughter, giving him leverage to keep cooperating. Once Quinn identifies Arthur's shadow connection, Ruby chooses alliance over possession: she returns the demon-tier weapon in exchange for shelter protection, help in the war, and an effort to recover Minny. (Chapters 1229–1250)

Recovering Minny

Ruby travels with the coalition through the final Dalki operation despite doing little frontline fighting. When she sees Minny in danger she tries to run to her, and Sam restrains her only because the battlefield would kill an ordinary human. Quinn eventually spares and protects the child, leaving Ruby on her knees in relieved tears. (Chapters 1535 and 1558–1559)

Ruby is alive at this last appearance. The corpus does not show her reunion with Minny in private, later leadership of the shelter, or fate after the war. (Chapter 1559)

Appearance and personality

Ruby is a middle-aged woman with golden-brown skin and hair braided to her waist. The corpus supplies no height, eye colour, armour description, or later-era change in appearance. (Chapters 473 and 767)

She is cautious, hospitable, selfless, and fiercely protective of her community and daughter. Ruby can distrust outsiders and make dangerous decisions under pressure, but she refuses to sacrifice civilians and relinquishes immense weapon power when doing so offers a better chance to save others. (Chapters 275, 474, 1228–1250, and 1558–1559)

Powers and abilities

Leadership and survival

Ruby organises construction with limited technology, directs a growing shelter, negotiates with soldiers and faction leaders, and keeps displaced civilians together during occupation. These are learned leadership and survival skills; no personal ability, Qi practice, or military rank is established for her. (Chapters 473–474, 767, 1121, and 1229)

Temporary demon-tier weapon use

Ruby can activate Arthur's demon-tier sword, but the first attempt produces more energy than she can safely redirect and locks her body in place. She has neither training nor tested control, and Nathan must intervene to prevent friendly casualties. The episode demonstrates access to the weapon, not an innate power or mastery. (Chapters 1228–1229)

Ruby later gives the sword back to the coalition. Its shadow abilities, power, and subsequent uses belong to Arthur's legacy and later wielders rather than to Ruby, and the weapon is not configured as her inventory. (Chapters 1247–1250)

Relationships

  • Arthur: Arthur helps found and protect Ruby's shelter, becoming its benefactor and her trusted ally. His concern for Ruby and Minny is used to pressure him.
  • Minny: Minny is Ruby's abducted daughter and the central reason she joins the coalition and surrenders the demon-tier weapon.
  • Quinn: Quinn's shadow reveals a connection to Arthur. Ruby trusts his alliance with her people and ultimately sees him spare her daughter.
  • Nathan: Nathan initially clashes with Ruby over the demon-tier sword but prevents its uncontrolled attack from killing her civilians and brings her into the wider alliance.

Items

No manifest-configured inventory item is assigned to Ruby. Arthur's demon-tier sword is temporarily held and then returned, not retained as her personal equipment.
