Pai

Pai is a senior member of the Blade family and the twin brother of Vicky. He is a trained fist fighter and copied-ability user whose bond with Vicky lets the pair share six abilities and combine their MC-cell reserves while touching. Although he obeys Hilston for much of his life, concern for his siblings eventually leads him to support Sil, help kill Slicer, and hunt dangerous Chained after Hilston's death. Project H later kills Pai and receives his copied-ability capacity; the transfer does not make Pai and H the same person. (Chapters 621–624, 665–668, 1237–1239, 1254–1268, and 2114)

Biography

Life under Hilston and the hunt for Vorden

Pai and Vicky are introduced as Vorden's older twin siblings, already shaped by the Blade family's lethal childhood trials. Pai treats sparring as routine, studies hand-to-hand combat, and favours his fists, while serving as the calmer partner who restrains Vicky's impulses. He refuses to discuss the old temple event and says it made them who they are, indicating adaptation rather than recovery from that trauma. (Chapters 621, 624, and 640)

Pai privately feels sorry for Vorden and visits his cell to talk, but fear of Hilston keeps that sympathy hidden. Discovering the escape, he investigates before reporting it and keeps Vicky ignorant of the real search because her temper might make matters worse. When they catch the fugitives, he asks to fight Raten alone and later intervenes to stop Vicky from accidentally killing Vorden, yet still demands surrender because Hilston will punish the entire family if they fail. His concern therefore mitigates the order without overcoming it. (Chapters 657–665)

Pai's abilities dominate Raten at range, and joining hands with Vicky lets the twins combine their copied powers against Quinn's Bloodsucker form. They are forced back when separating disrupts that shared strength, then use the sea to build a vast waterspout as the fugitives escape. Sil's recovered capacity finally weakens the attack enough for the ship to leave. Pai calms the waves afterward and hopes they will not have to meet their brother in battle again, a wish that exposes the conflict between family attachment and obedience. (Chapters 665–669)

Turning against Hilston

Pai and Vicky later confirm to Hilston that Sil's powers have returned and initially remain part of Hilston's pursuit. When the Blade attack collides with the battle against Slicer, however, Pai argues that the twins should pretend to serve Hilston and let Sil escape if they meet him. Hilston's apparent death removes the immediate threat of punishment, and Pai tells Vicky that she no longer needs to perform cruelty for their grandfather's approval. He then helps warn Sil about Hilston's second-chance ability. (Chapters 797–798, 1195–1237)

After Hilston is finally killed, Pai and Vicky fight openly beside Sil. The three combine their copied lightning abilities and transform into gigantic bolts, destroying half of Slicer's body in a coordinated strike. Pai's shift is therefore not merely passive relief at Hilston's death: he directly contributes to ending the Dalki threat that Hilston had failed to defeat. (Chapters 1237–1239)

Hunting the Chained and death at Project H's hands

With the Blade family exposed publicly and without Hilston, Pai and Vicky use Blade Island as a base and choose to hunt dangerous Chained who might destabilise the world. They travel with their parents, leaving Sil, Vorden, and the others to develop the island. The corpus does not narrate Pai's individual missions or explain why he later travels alone. Jack later recounts that Project H encounters Pai alone. H defeats him, and Jack removes Pai's ability before Pai dies, then installs it in H. Because Pai and Vicky's paired variant carries the potential for six copied abilities, that transplant lets H hold six abilities as well. Vicky says in Chapter 2231 that she does not know where Pai is; her uncertainty is not evidence that he survived, but shows that his death was concealed from her. (Chapters 2114 and 2231)

Appearance and personality

Pai is a fit blond man who closely resembles his twin sister. Regular training leaves him muscular with defined abdominal muscles, and he normally fights barehanded or in practical training clothes. His exact age is not stated; family terminology is complicated by Hilston's creation of later Blades, but the narrative consistently presents Pai and Vicky as twins and as older siblings to Vorden, Raten, and Sil. Compared with Vicky, Pai is courteous, restrained, and more inclined to plan. He reads combat manuals, prefers fists to kicks, and often speaks sense when his sister becomes impulsive. That caution can become complicity: he hides compassion and follows Hilston because he fears collective punishment. Powers and abilities

Blade copied-ability capacity

Pai possesses the Blade family's ability to copy powers from people he touches and can retain three at a time. He demonstrates teleportation, earth control, ranged invisible explosive force, hardening, water control, and later lightning at different points; these are stored powers, not separate permanent innate abilities. His greater MC reserve lets him teleport farther and longer than Raten when they hold comparable ability sets. Like other Blades, he still needs knowledge and practice to use a copied power well, so the twins specialise rather than treating every copied ability as equally mastered. Twin sharing and combined output

Pai and Vicky have a unique paired variation: while touching, they share all six stored abilities, combine the abilities' effective levels, and draw on their pooled MC cells. With both twins concentrating on the same earth technique, their wall has an output described as beyond any individual earth user; together they also fire lethal water jets and shape an enormous waterspout from the sea. The technique has strict coordination and positioning limits. They must agree on the ability being used, maintain contact for the combined output, and restrict their movement; breaking hands immediately divides the powers and makes either twin more vulnerable. High-level techniques also consume their large shared MC pool rapidly. (Chapters 665–668)

Pai's ability is later transplanted into H, enabling H's six-ability capacity without Vicky present. The corpus attributes that result to Jack's transfer procedure and Pai's unusual paired power; it does not show Pai independently holding six abilities after separation or imply that Pai survives inside H. Physical conditioning and martial arts

Blade training gives Pai a superhuman body whose strength and speed can match an enhanced Vorden even without armour. He favours boxing-style punches, studies hand-to-hand technique, and spars regularly with Vicky. He can continue moving with broken ribs and withstand hits that would incapacitate an ordinary human, while hardening further reduces damage when that copied power is available. These advantages are not invulnerability: Quinn's Bloodsucker breaks through the twins' wall and seriously injures Pai, and Project H eventually defeats and kills him. Coordinated lightning form

In the battle against Slicer, Pai, Vicky, and Sil combine lightning powers while spinning through the air, turning their bodies into gigantic lightning bolts. Their joint strike removes half of Slicer's body. The chapter establishes the representative feat but does not explain whether the bodily transformation is a specialised lightning skill, an effect of stacking copied powers, or a repeatable technique Pai can perform alone. Relationships

• Vicky: Vicky is Pai's twin, regular sparring partner, and the other half of his combined ability. Pai moderates her impulses and ultimately gives her permission to stop performing loyalty to Hilston, but she never learns of his later death within the supplied corpus.
