Jill

Jill is the leader of the eighth vampire family and the settlement's long-range telepathic intermediary. Her cooperation with Cindy helps frame Quinn and devastate her family; after Bryce reduces her to a controlled messenger, Jill uses her final moments to expose him to the settlement. (Chapters 465, 876–896, 935–942, and 1342–1345)

Biography

Eighth-family leader and council rival

Jill first appears as the eighth family leader during Quinn's entry into vampire politics. When Layla and Erin become involved in a council confrontation, Jill attacks them with leader-level speed and force. Quinn's Qi-infused blood shot wounds her and delays her normal vampire healing, giving her a personal grievance against his group. (Chapters 465, 472–480)

That resentment influences her council conduct. When Quinn needs permission to return to the human world, Jill conditions her vote on his leaving one of the women behind, privately viewing the demand as repayment for the earlier fight. The act is political leverage driven by vindictiveness rather than a security need. (Chapter 527)

Jill also has institutional value beyond combat. Dwight credits her with finding the solution that completed an old vampire project after both Vincent and Jim had failed, although the corpus does not explain what she devised or how. Her family ability makes her the communication hub through whom vampires contact leaders and distant subordinates. (Chapters 836 and 876)

Alliance with Cindy and the tenth-family attack

Peter's sighting of Jill meeting Cindy makes her a suspect in the conspiracy surrounding the election and Dwight's murder. Communication routed through Jill fails at critical moments, while her knowledge of family positions helps the conspirators coordinate. Jill later claims that Cindy forced her, but the corpus does not establish which of her individual choices were compelled or the exact method of coercion. (Chapters 871, 876–878, and 935)

Under Bryce's order, Jill marches about five hundred eighth-family vampires against the tenth castle to search for a Blood fairy. She dislikes being chosen because her ability is poorly suited to fighting, yet also hopes the mission will redeem her family and privately wants Bryce replaced. She broadcasts the ultimatum directly into everyone’s minds and then uses her telepathy offensively to torment Paul with the voices and images of injured companions. (Chapters 884 and 894)

Peter closes the distance before her mental interference can decide the battle. Jill uses blood hardening and blood swipes, but those techniques take time and Peter tolerates damage in order to strike her repeatedly. After her knight Tifu is killed and raised as a Wight, Peter uses him against her; Jill is wounded and retreats with her remaining forces. (Chapters 888 and 894–896)

Collapse of the eighth family

Cindy's wider plan turns the eighth family against the settlement, including actions stated to be beyond either Cindy's or Jill's known ability. Jill fights Jin during the resulting crisis, while the deaths of the family's former leaders and original ancestor destroy its governing line. This catastrophe matters to Jill's later condition, but the text does not specify how much control she retained over every eighth-family attacker. (Chapters 919–923)

Afterward, Bryce says Jill is “no longer who she was” and disbands the eighth family as a council family. Her useful ability is preserved as a line that will serve the monarch, while Jill herself appears with “dead eyes” and is treated as an ex-leader. These descriptions establish trauma and loss of autonomy, but not a literal replacement of her identity. (Chapters 942 and 1123)

One later chapter calls her the “ninth family leader” even while saying her family no longer exists. Earlier and later evidence consistently identifies Jill with the eighth family, whereas Muka remains the ninth leader; the isolated numbering is therefore left as an unresolved textual inconsistency rather than treated as a new appointment. Bryce's messenger and final broadcast

Bryce keeps Jill beside him and uses her telepathy to issue orders across leaderless families. Other leaders avoid using her as an intermediary because anything she learns can reach the king, and one account describes her as Bryce's dog on an invisible chain. Jill hopes that serving him might atone for her earlier actions, but eventually recognises that he has only used her as a puppet. (Chapters 977–979, 1340, and 1342–1344)

During Arthur's assault, Jill mutters that they may deserve to die. Bryce stabs her through the back and uses blood power inside the weapon to destroy her from within. Before dying, she excludes Bryce from a settlement-wide telepathic broadcast and exposes his abductions, sacrifices, and murder of her; the message turns the surviving leaders against him even though pain stops her from revealing everything she intended. Appearance and personality

The corpus does not supply Jill's hair colour, eye colour, height, or ordinary clothing. After the eighth family's destruction she has “dead eyes” and a ghostlike, unreadable face, visual signs of her diminished condition under Bryce rather than evidence that she is a different person. Jill is initially vindictive, politically opportunistic, and conscious that communication rather than combat is her strength. Her cooperation with Cindy causes severe harm, though her later claim of coercion leaves the degree of voluntary participation unresolved. Guilt and fatalism dominate her final period, culminating in a broadcast that costs her any remaining protection from Bryce and exposes him to the settlement. Powers and abilities

Telepathy and communication network

Jill can transmit speech directly into other minds over large distances. She addresses everyone in the tenth castle at once, connects leaders and knights who are not nearby, and ultimately reaches virtually the entire vampire settlement while deliberately excluding Bryce. The corpus does not define a geographic maximum, but the settlement-wide broadcast is her largest demonstrated use. (Chapters 876, 884, 977–979, and 1344)

She can focus on one opponent and inject convincing voices and images of loved ones being harmed. Paul gradually learns to resist the sounds, after which Jill adds visual content; maintaining this targeted interference leaves her vulnerable to Peter's physical assault. The ability communicates or manipulates perception, but the text does not show it directly controlling a target's body. (Chapter 894)

Vampire physiology and blood techniques

As a family leader, Jill has exceptional vampire speed, strength, and healing. She uses kicks in close combat, blood hardening to block, and blood swipes to attack. Blood control and hardening require time to activate, which Peter exploits, while Quinn's Qi-infused blood shot causes a wound that heals much more slowly than normal. (Chapters 472–480 and 894)

Jill explicitly considers her personal ability ill-suited to direct fighting, and later observers say combat is not her forte despite leader-level physical power. • Cindy: Jill cooperates with Cindy in the conspiracy that frames Quinn. Jill later says she was forced, but the precise boundary between coercion and willing support remains unknown.
