Jeouk

Jeouk is a silver-badge vampire officer ordered to lead inexperienced soldiers into a war designed to spend vampire lives before human and Dalki forces commit. His encounter with Quinn shifts his loyalty from formal reporting lines toward the people who protect his platoon, and he later helps Quinn's wider alliance. (Chapters 2077–2102 and 2210–2360)

Biography

Command under a disposable war plan

Jeouk leads a conscripted platoon toward the Dalki front while fearing that his orders amount to sending inexperienced people to die. During the five-day journey he tries to prepare them rather than conceal the danger. Quinn's calm presence gives the group an unexpected source of strength, but a four-spike Dalki still breaks Jeouk's arm and overwhelms him, exposing how little his rank guarantees against the enemy chosen for them. (Chapters 2077–2084)

Jeouk recognises that the supporting human and Dalki command intends to wait until vampire forces are depleted before intervening. He also suspects Quinn is far more than an ordinary soldier. When Quinn's identity is broadcast, Jeouk refuses to report him and the platoon maintains the silence, choosing the man who protected them over institutions treating them as expendable. After Quinn claims the kingship and disturbs their memories, Jeouk and Ronkin are arrested, but their concern remains focused on Quinn rather than their own punishment. (Chapters 2087–2102)

Returning to Quinn's alliance

After that detention, Jeouk reappears with Ronkin among allies sheltering near the Amra and agrees to help Quinn. He reads the arrival of the enemy's final wave, recognises Quinn's summoned beasts as support, and returns with Ronkin and Dober to reinforce the Amra rather than flee. The group later settles into a less immediate wartime routine, and Jeouk is last shown off duty with Ronkin and Edvard; the corpus does not describe a further promotion or death. (Chapters 2210–2261 and 2304–2360)

Appearance and personality

Jeouk is an adult male vampire identified chiefly by his silver military badge; the supplied corpus does not give a stable detailed account of his hair, eyes, or clothing. He is anxious about commanding people into likely death but continues preparing them and analysing the battlefield. Gratitude and practical judgment outweigh automatic obedience when he decides not to expose Quinn. (Chapters 2077–2102)

Powers and abilities

Vampire physiology and officer training

Jeouk has standard vampire physical enhancement and the combat education expected of a silver-badge officer. He can lead a platoon, assess enemy timing, and coordinate with unfamiliar human and alien allies. The corpus does not name a personal family ability or show a distinctive advanced blood technique, so ordinary vampire traits and inferred rank should not be expanded into an unsupported specialisation. (Chapters 2077–2102 and 2210–2261)

His broken arm and defeat against a four-spike Dalki establish that badge status does not put him near that opponent's physical tier. Later survival is achieved through allies, planning, and Quinn's intervention rather than a narrated transformation or sudden rise in power. He remains capable of active service when last shown, but his exact healed condition and later rank are not quantified. (Chapters 2083–2102 and 2210–2360)

Relationships

  • Quinn: Quinn protects Jeouk's endangered platoon and earns loyalty strong enough that Jeouk withholds information from his superiors. Jeouk later joins the coalition supporting him. (Chapters 2081–2102 and 2210–2261)
  • Ronkin: Ronkin is Jeouk's recurring comrade through the Dalki campaign, arrest, alliance fighting, settlement, and later off-duty life. (Chapters 2077–2102 and 2210–2360)
  • Edvard: Edvard shares the later settlement with Jeouk and Ronkin. Their final inn outing indicates ordinary companionship after the emergency, though the corpus gives limited direct development between them. (Chapter 2360)
