Grenlet

Grenlet is the Original leader of the third, Toppy family and a secret member of the Punisher's Convent. He begins as a wary political rival of Edvard, but the discovery of Quinn's shadow power and connection to the Punishers activates an old pact of service. Grenlet thereafter helps protect Quinn's family, opposes Magnus, and recruits Russ for the final campaign. (Chapters 2034, 2054–2059, 2253–2254, and 2364)

Biography

A wary Original in the new settlement

Grenlet participates in defending the vampire settlement from a mass beast attack, but remains suspicious of Quinn's strength and angry after conflict reaches his own family. He avoids escalating his hostility toward Edvard because an open fight between Originals would cause wider trouble. When Quinn confronts him with shadow power, Grenlet recognises a force associated with the Punishers and stops treating him as an ordinary intruder. (Chapters 2034–2058)

Renewing the Punisher's Convent pact

Grenlet reveals that he secretly supported Arthur during the second vampire civil war even though the third family publicly backed the king. Edvard credits Grenlet's intervention with helping that war end more peacefully, and the Convent members had sworn to aid future Punishers. Grenlet bows to Quinn and promises service, not because Quinn formally belongs to the old organisation, but because his power and relationship to Arthur satisfy the trust Grenlet preserved. His first advice is directed toward Quinn's stated priority: protecting his family and allowing them a normal life. (Chapter 2059)

Grenlet and Edvard use their influence over the school selection process to reduce the danger surrounding Minny and Quinn's household. They also agree to watch Jim's movements and obtain information while Quinn remains undercover. Grenlet's fear of Jim's masked guard limits how openly he can act, yet that caution keeps the covert alliance from being exposed after Edvard and Quinn are defeated. (Chapters 2061–2079 and 2102)

Open rebellion and recruitment

During the later war, Grenlet fights reinforced beasts with blood-aura constructs. When Quinn invokes the Punisher's Convent before the Originals, Grenlet joins Hikel, Edvard, and Bianca in turning against Magnus's group; his hammer and needles help disrupt the hostile leaders. He later leaves the tower once his immediate role there has ended, showing that his support remains practical rather than ceremonial. (Chapters 2253–2254, 2282, and 2286)

Grenlet is ultimately trusted to lead the squad sent after Russ, whose power makes coercion dangerous. He argues that having great power creates responsibility and negotiates rather than attacking. Russ agrees to help on the condition that the group also address the god-slayer crystal affecting him. Chapter 2364 leaves Grenlet alive after securing that conditional cooperation; no later chapter establishes his fate. (Chapter 2364)

Appearance and personality

Grenlet is an unusually heavy vampire with a large belly and extremely thin, long fingers that dangle beside it. His physical shape does not prevent fast movement or forceful blood-aura combat. He is irritable, anxious around powers he cannot measure, and politically calculating, but his caution coexists with enduring loyalty. Once the Convent's pact applies, he risks his family's standing and later fights other Originals to honour it. (Chapters 2034, 2054–2059, 2102, 2253–2254, and 2348)

Powers and abilities

Original vampire physiology

As an Original, Grenlet possesses strength, speed, durability, and blood control far beyond an ordinary vampire. He can survive large-scale fighting and kill an emperor-tier flying beast, although the altered beast requires enough effort for him to recognise that it is abnormally strong. The corpus does not demonstrate the Toppy family's inherited hardening ability through Grenlet, so that family association alone is insufficient to assign it to him. (Chapters 2034–2039 and 2253)

Blood-aura constructs

Grenlet shapes blood aura into a shield over his body, a large hammer, and multiple blood needles. The shield deflects a diving bat beast; the hammer then knocks it into the ground and kills it. Against the other Originals, he summons the hammer and throws needles to apprehend or impede them. These scenes establish flexible defence, blunt force, and restraint applications, but do not define the constructs' maximum range or durability. (Chapters 2253–2254)

Political memory and negotiation

Grenlet's value also lies in knowledge concealed from outside memory manipulation. The Punisher's Convent phrase and shadow power provide a recognition mechanism that unknown enemies cannot easily erase because they do not know the secret. He later handles Russ by appealing to responsibility and accepting a bargain, avoiding a confrontation that his squad feared. (Chapters 2059 and 2364)

Relationships

  • Quinn: Grenlet moves from fear and suspicion to pledged service after connecting Quinn's shadow to the Punishers. He protects Quinn's family politically and later answers the Convent's call in battle. (Chapters 2058–2059, 2061–2079, and 2253–2254)
  • Edvard: The two Originals initially clash but share membership in the Convent. They coordinate the school manoeuvre and intelligence work, then rebel together against Magnus. (Chapters 2054–2059, 2061–2079, and 2254)
  • Russ: Grenlet leads the recruitment mission and wins conditional cooperation through negotiation rather than force. (Chapter 2364)
