Galanar

Galanar is an experienced Vampire Corps investigator in Jessica's squad. His concern for Jessica is mixed with obvious romantic interest, but his loyalty becomes consequential when Immortui's followers target the team: Galanar survives an abduction and helps expose the attempt to frame his captain. (Chapters 2318–2346)

Biography

Partner and investigator

Galanar repeatedly warns Jessica that pursuing suspects alone endangers the squad, partly because he is normally the partner expected to keep pace with her. He is jealous of other men around her and awkwardly tries to present himself as handsome, yet he also works within her small investigative team and follows her command in the field. During the Black Swan operation he protects a disguised Edvard, takes responsibility for several attackers, and helps the squad complete the case. (Chapters 2318–2327)

Abduction and rescue

Magnus's agents attack the team soon afterward. Galanar is frozen by a trap before he can fight, beaten near death, and used as bait while other squad members are killed. Jessica insists on searching for him, and Quinn, Edvard, and Hikel recover him. High-grade green Dalki blood and carefully supplied Qi restart his own healing; survival comes from that intervention, not a hidden regeneration ability. (Chapters 2328–2330)

Once conscious, Galanar reports the ambush and discovers that Jessica has been falsely named as the murderer. He escapes with the group, provides a description later used to identify Magnus, and remains evidence that the accusation is a coordinated frame-up. The last later reference confirms he was saved, but the corpus does not describe his career after the case. (Chapters 2330–2346)

Appearance and personality

Galanar is a blond adult male vampire who brushes back his hair and adjusts his expression when trying to appear attractive. He is protective, jealous, and sometimes theatrical, but also experienced enough to worry about unit procedure and to keep fighting while outnumbered. He uses jokes after nearly dying to reassure Jessica and conceal how badly the deaths of their teammates affect him. (Chapters 2318–2330)

Powers and abilities

Vampire combat and investigation

Galanar has vampire strength, speed, senses, blood aura, and healing, supplemented by Corps training. He fires blood swipes, feints from punch to leg sweep, and is fast enough to be Jessica's usual field partner. He also assesses scenes, follows suspects, and gives an identifying description after his abduction. The corpus does not name a family ability, soul weapon, or advanced blood technique. His limits are explicit: coordinated attackers can constrain him, Magnus's trapping mark freezes him before a fight begins, and ordinary healing cannot recover his near-fatal condition unaided. Quinn's Qi and rare Dalki blood temporarily energise the body enough for recovery. No permanent power increase from that treatment is established. (Chapters 2327–2330)

Relationships

• Jessica: Galanar is Jessica's regular partner, worries about her impulsive pursuit of suspects, and openly likes her. Her refusal to abandon the search saves him and strengthens his loyalty during the frame-up. (Chapters 2318–2346)
• Quinn: Quinn joins the Corps under disguise, helps locate Galanar, and uses Qi with Dalki blood to keep him alive. Galanar does not learn the full extent of Quinn's identity in the cited rescue scenes. (Chapters 2324–2332)
