Chasing dangerous stories

AJ enters the war as a light-blue-haired reporter in his twenties whose family recorded Quinn's earlier battle with Graham. BandV money gives him drones, cameras, and a fast ship, while his speed ability repeatedly lets him arrive before competing crews. He knowingly moves into the fighting around the Chained faction for better angles, even after recognising that exposing the Blade attack could make him a target. That appetite for a scoop initially makes danger part of his professional advantage rather than a reason to withdraw. (Chapters 1661–1679 and 1894)

Recording the celestial conflict

During the fighting around Hinto and the later confrontation involving Chris, Erin, Zero, and Quinn, AJ keeps filming while frightened enough to shake. He orders his assistants to evacuate civilians, uses heat- and storm-resistant drones to cover simultaneous battles, and adjusts when the equipment breaks or the combatants move too quickly to track. Although he regrets being unable to warn Chris using the wider picture visible through his cameras, he refuses to abandon the record even when he believes the stream may show his own death. AJ's priorities change when Quinn is left carrying the cost of the battle. He lowers his handheld camera out of respect while leaving his glasses recording, then offers Quinn a shoulder and accompanies the wounded group toward the final confrontation. Afterward he closes the livestream by asking the public to remember both the dead and the people who saved them, and he is formally honoured for the coverage. His later plan to write a history of Quinn and his allies—amended at Quinn's request to preserve Borden's role—shows that the dangerous scoop has become an archival responsibility. AJ is a young adult man with light-blue hair. He commonly wears beast armour fitted with cameras, including concealed devices in his jacket, hat, and glasses. He is excitable and publicity-minded, but not indifferent to casualties: he directs assistants toward civilian rescue, accepts personal risk to keep evidence available, and ultimately gives Quinn privacy without fully surrendering the historical record. Speed ability

AJ's unnamed ability gives him superhuman movement speed, principally used to reach scenes and reposition while reporting.
