Canghai Pearl
The Canghai Pearl is an azure heavenly treasure formed as the Cong Yun Sea approaches destruction. It contains the sea’s water law and a trace of its consciousness, making contact both illuminating and dangerous. Across timelines it is acquired by different people, consumed during Foundation Establishment, or reproduced as a law through Truth; these states are not one continuous physical inventory (Chapters 36–38, 57–60, 141–149).
History
Early acquisition in the Wanhua storehouse
Li Fan first finds the still-gestating pearl among mundane-looking goods obtained by the Wanhua Chamber of Commerce. Wu Xingzou says it came from a fisherman on Flowing Cloud Island and does not recognize its nature. Li Fan discreetly takes it and later watches it mature as the Cong Yun Sea dries beneath Crimson Flame’s calamity (Chapters 36–38, 54–57).
Contact with the dying sea
Ordinary refinement methods fail. When Li Fan uses Discern Variations to contact the pearl’s aura, his consciousness expands into the perspective of the Cong Yun Sea, but a moment costs roughly decades of bodily lifespan and threatens to assimilate his human will. With a heart-refinement method he later retains enough selfhood to draw water vapor, bring rain to Taian Island, and observe Crimson Flame through the sea’s perception (Chapters 57–60).
Foundation Treasure and divergent bearers
In a later life Li Fan locates the pearl near Flowing Cloud Island and consumes its physical form while establishing his foundation, producing an ocean-shaped Foundation Treasure. After he builds his foundation with Truth, Truth can reproduce the Canghai law without requiring continued possession of the original pearl. In another timeline, the pearl instead protects and bonds with Ye Feipeng, eventually merging into his unusual double-foundation structure (Chapters 141–165, 226–270).
Description and function
The immature Canghai Pearl resembles an ordinary azure glass ball, but changing light inside it looks like a vast sea in gestation. At maturity it becomes fully blue and emits dense water vapor. Its law is summarized by the relationship between abyss, sea, and life, and its internal consciousness reflects the immense, impersonal perspective of an ocean (Chapters 37, 57–60).
The treasure mediates water law rather than serving as a simple reservoir. It can magnify perception across the sea, gather residual moisture, influence the surrounding ocean, nurture a compatible bearer, and become the basis of a cultivator’s Foundation Treasure (Chapters 57–60, 149, 226–270).
Abilities and limitations
Ocean consciousness and water command
Connection lets a user perceive the Cong Yun Sea from a vast overhead perspective and draw its remaining water vapor into rain. This awareness also exposes distant beings such as Crimson Flame. The same scale dilutes ordinary emotion and can overwhelm the human observer, so effective use requires a method that preserves the user’s own will (Chapters 57–60).
Lifespan consumption and assimilation
Li Fan’s first brief contact produces white hair, wrinkles, and a loss of about thirty-five years of physical lifespan. Continued immersion risks erasing the boundary between human consciousness and the sea. The pearl is therefore not safely activated through raw spiritual energy, blood refinement, or unprotected divine sense (Chapter 57).
Foundation and nurturing
Consumed through Foundation Establishment, the physical pearl transforms into a Foundation Treasure whose deeper power opens as cultivation advances. In Ye Feipeng’s branch it actively protects, heals, and draws on the Cong Yun Sea to reinforce his transformed body. Such responsive behavior reflects remaining heavenly-treasure consciousness rather than proof of permanent human control (Chapters 149, 226–270).
Custody and users
Li Fan physically acquires the immature pearl in an early life and later obtains and consumes it for Foundation Establishment in another. Once consumed, the original object no longer remains a loose pearl he can lend; still later, Truth’s Canghai transformation is an internal reproduction of its law rather than recovered physical custody (Chapters 37, 141–165).
Ye Feipeng becomes the pearl’s protected bearer in a divergent timeline after attracting the Cong Yun Sea’s attention. The pearl’s defense of him and fusion into his foundation show a reciprocal bond with agency. Neither his use nor Li Fan’s foreknowledge establishes timeline-independent ownership of one persistent physical object (Chapters 226–270).
