Jian Daosheng

Jian Daosheng is a white-haired elder of the Xuan Immortal Ark who combines historical scholarship, True Immortal seal-script practice, and direct responsibility for dangerous treasury defenses.

Biography

Golden Needle Reverses Xuanhuang

As dean of the Celestial Pivot Institute, Jian Daosheng explains that the Ark's wandering civilization began with cultivators fleeing an immortal Watcher, then helps devise concealment based on the frozen Yin-Yang Pearls. When Li Fan arrives as a supposed Great Qi scholar, Jian leads exchanges of True Immortal seal script, bargains over the Hidden Immortal Compendium, and moves from guarded pride to eager intellectual engagement. He later joins High Wall expeditions, the Equal Heaven project, and the attempt to contain Tianyang, even merging with the dangerous Desolate God statue when the immortal puppet threatens the treasury. Appearance and personality

Jian Daosheng is first identified as a white-haired dean and later as one of the Ark's oldest elders, with white brows, wrinkles, and a bent body before temporary rejuvenation under the Ancient seal character. He is scholarly and usually composed, yet can become visibly proud, anxious, or excited when unprecedented script knowledge appears. His willingness to negotiate coexists with deep caution around immortal artifacts. (Chapters 1300–1322; Chapter 1328)

Abilities and cultivation

True Immortal seal script

Jian can write and interpret multiple True Immortal seal characters, including Resolve, which collapses hostile formation lines. He also understands how incomplete characters may be safer or more useful to lower-realm beings. The scripts are immensely powerful but context-dependent, and their residual or copied forms can distort, burn, rejuvenate, or overwhelm users; Jian's scholarship does not grant unrestricted mastery over originals. Desolate God merger

Inside the Ark treasury, Jian merges temporarily with a consciousness-erased Desolate God statue to direct its thousand-eyed defenses against Tianyang. The method gives him destructive force and environmental control, but exposure changes his appearance and risks corruptive influence. Other elders repeatedly warn and authenticate him, and he separates before accumulating too much decay. (Chapters 1364–1365)

• Li Fan appears to Jian as a dangerous Great Qi scholar whose knowledge invites both cooperation and containment.
