Zhang Lan

Zhang Lan is Sister Mao's young assistant, whose caution makes her the first reviewer to suspect that the apparent visitors inside Coffin Village are not what they seem.

Biography

Narrative role

Zhang Lan enters the newly opened Coffin Village scenario with Sister Mao's professional review team. Having researched the House of Horrors and survived an earlier incident involving a mental patient at another attraction, she distrusts Bai Qiulin's hidden left hand and strange posture. She resists splitting up, warns Huang Xing, and uses online reviews to explain why the group should not underestimate Chen Ge. (Chapters 345, 347–349)

When Huang Xing screams, Zhang Lan follows Mr. Zhou and Duan Yue to investigate. She correctly concludes that Bai Qiulin is involved with the attraction but misreads the larger trap: after finding Huang Xing beneath a bed, she calls Sister Mao and is surrounded by Bai, Mr. Zhou, and Duan Yue in their ghostly forms. She faints, is recovered by Chen, and is carried out alive for medical attention. (Chapters 350–355)

Appearance and personality

Zhang Lan is a young woman with pigtails and painted eyebrows. She is observant, well prepared, loyal to her companions, and more cautious than the louder members of the review team. Her suspicions are often directionally correct, but the scenario overwhelms her by making every reassuring companion part of the deception. (Chapters 345, 347–351)

Skills and supernatural abilities

She researches attractions, evaluates visitor reviews, notices suspicious body language, and analyzes the pattern of a companion's scream. She has no supernatural ability. (Chapters 345, 347–350)

Relationships

Sister Mao is Zhang Lan's employer and the person she calls when the group begins disappearing. Huang Xing is the teammate she tries to protect. Bai Qiulin, Ol' Zhou, and Duan Yue are House employees whose coordinated visitor disguises defeat her investigation. (Chapters 347–355)

Items

Zhang Lan uses her phone to consult online reviews and call Sister Mao during the search for Huang Xing. The call is cut off when the ghost actors spring their trap; the phone itself has no supernatural property. (Chapters 348–351)
